HELP! - Are front row seats any good?

I've seen AIDA three times now, and from all different areas (orchestra, mezz and balcony). I, personally, enjoyed the show from further back. I even got a single seat for the front row balcony and it was not only a lot cheaper, but the seat was fabulous because you can see the whole picture. Also, the lighting is so terrific, that I'm afraid you might miss some of the effects by sitting so close. Bringing small binoculars helps for close ups, too, if you want them.

I saw Les Mis from the front row orchestra. We were MUCH too close; we couldn't see a lot of the stage. Orch row D or front row mezz ... that's the best. :)

The first time I saw Hairspray was from the front row center orchestra. It was that or far in the back and way to the side. It was OK. I was just glad to get a ticket! I once saw a show from the front row but way to the side. Not good unless you enjoy watching the action from the wings!

I have enjoyed a couple of shows from the front row---after I had already seen them from farther back. It's an interesting experience to be close enough to really see the actors' expressions and feel a little like some of the rich patrons in Shakespeare's day who sat right on the stage, but for seeing the whole show for the first time, the front row is not usually good.

I sat in the front row of the Orchestra for Gypsy, and unless you are a smoker...don't sit there. You also get some ass in your face from the strippers, which makes things very awekward. LOL

I sat off to the side in the Orchstra for Aida, and I thought it was going to be an obstructed view, and it really wasn't. Their front row seats looked fine. I wasn't sitting in them, but they didn't seem to be too low from the stage.

All together I've seen about 4 or 5 shows from the front row of the orchestra's, and it's not that great. If you can get furter back, do it.

Now- I sat in the front row when i saw it- and the only scene i couldn't see is when they lay on the ground after Elaborate Lives- I enjoyed the seats- it's nice to be able to see all there expressions.
