Thank you all.
I personally think a broad research paper on the economic turbulence and its effect on Broadway is sufficient... but perhaps it'd be interesting if one was to do the effects of monopolizing commercialism (i.e. DISNEY) on Broadway and the differences?
Seems a tad more challenging but interesting

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I didn't want to start a new one. I was thinking of doing my research paper on the cultural impact of theater, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find enough sources (I will need a lot of them). Is there any other ideas for a research paper not listed here?

Hamilton definitely wasn't around in 2009. You could talk about it's use in APUSH curriculum, it's performance at the White House, it's beef with Donald Trump
I recently did a paper on THE GOLDEN APPLE and its relation to the then-prevalent Rodgers and Hammertein mold. There were more than enough sources available on RnH, the show itself (reviews and write-ups in Not Since Carrie type books as well as author thoughts in the published script) and off-Broadway/Broadway theatre in general. The prof LOVED it.

For uni???
You need JOURNAL ARTICLES not just hearsay. I am sure nothing on this site will cover peer reviewed journal articles.
You seem to be a troll but in the Humanities books are perfectly acceptable as sources.

I wrote a paper not all that long ago about Broadway fans and how they function as an information sharing community. It's not a topic with resources that scream out as obvious, but the research phase always turns up a lot of surprises.

Your topic sounds very broad--what exactly are you getting at?
I'm currently working on a paper on cast albums for a class on American Pop Music and Technology. There's not a whole lot of scholarship devoted to the topic out there, but it has a rich and fascinating history.
^^ You're so right about Cast Albums. Such a fascinating subject with almost ZERO scholarship done. I could write a book myself from the info I've gathered on my own...
Whichever topic your son chooses in the end, remind him to be super specific unless he's writing a 50-page paper.
