Unless he had a "come to Jesus" moment, which to the best of my knowledge he hasn't, there's a good reason he was chased out of Broadway. But he's got an EGOT so theater owners will bend over for him. It's gross. No thanks."
Have you entertained the possibility that this production is only possible becaus

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Previews Mar 29 2026, 12:02:57 AM
What a marvelous production! Metcalf did it again this season, and I so hope she brings home two Tonys come this June. The cast is across the board fantastic, and the brings so much to and so much out of the material. So much so that I wish they could've done away with the epilogue. It doesn't feel like an organic part of the play but more like a Miller shouting the audience "Hey this is what this play is about" scene, and it worked in some productions. But in this one, it f

THE FEAR OF 13 Previews Mar 27 2026, 11:23:18 PM
I thought it was okay. Not a big fan of exposition heavy shows, but it does make some sense here in that the character has a penchant for speech. The perspective shift was quite interesting but I felt they could make better use of it and there's a lot of lost potential there. My biggest gripe is that as someone who actually volunteered at DOCCS, the play's portrayl of the COs to me was laughably comical and made it apprarent to me that the production did not bother to do real research

Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande in SITPWG? Dec 17 2025, 04:00:36 AM

But could you even imagine?"

Please keep the money rolling in. Rudin's taste has been sorely missed in the last few years.

Notwithstanding, the lucky few of us will be having Christmas in March. :)

Jonathan Groff Sets 2025 Broadway Return with JUST IN TIME? Nov 27 2025, 09:43:31 PM

Today wrapping up my 2025 visit with Chess and later Seat of Our Pants. Mid-week when I was packing to leave DC I felt like the 5 days I spent there was enough & I was actually ready to go home. But that half of the trip was a lot more walking through museums; and especially the African American History Museum was very difficult. I didn't even read everything just to protect myself e

The flop that finally flew: why did it take 40 years for Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along to soar? Nov 24 2025, 07:33:20 AM

Found a recording of the opening number of the Donmar production. Truly fascinating. I guess Sondheim deep down believed the original version, or at least the idea of it, should've worked, and this was a chance for him to prove that. And maybe the revised version worked enough so he wasn't in a position to openly reject it or reverse it, so he limited the experiment to the Donmar production. It's also quite interesting that in the Roundabout/Fiasco revival, he allowed the production to add in texts from the original play the musical was adapted from.

Watching Bailey in As Long As You’re Mine was like watching a T-Rex about to devour a goat. It was literally scary and psycho killer chic in 3D. He and Erivo had the chemistry of Aaron Tveit and Karen Olivier in Moulin Rouge, which is basically non-existent. For Good was good and benefited from the restraint of camerawork, although I do feel they could pare it down a bit more and let the song do the work. Overall it’s a bunch of hits and misses but I don’t regret w

What about Audra and Nicole in Follies? Aug 24 2025, 10:47:12 PM

Nicole did just beat Audra out of a Tony this past season…"
And Will Rodgers Follies beat Miss Saigon. Guess that show must be a household name everyone can't stop talking about.

It was adapted from a memoir whose narrative June Havoc later published her own to counter.
The show was also titled a musical "fable." Sure your grade school teacher taught you what that word means."
Sure you're musical theater books taught you it was only labeled "A Musical Fable" to keep June Havoc from suing."
? They changed the name of the character of Baby June before they signed a release contract with Havoc and then changed it back. They could easily drop the title if they want.
