My High School did Little Shop which turned out great. BUT make sure you can make the plant awesome and have amazing actors for the leads. Except for the DooWop girls, everyone else needs to be a better/equal actor than singer (whoops). Hello DOlly would be a lot of fun but Carousel kind of bores me.

How to succeed... can be amazingly done if you have a talented drama department, also Sound of Music if you have a huge department with a lot of talented people. Little Shop is a tiny cast.

My sister's high school is doing Into the Woods. Out of those I would choose Ragtime or Little Shop.

I think the students would be happiest with Little Shop or Ragtime, but I'm in a community theatre production of Hello, Dolly! right now and it is loads of fun also. Updated On: 9/26/04 at 01:11 PM

Little Shop does not have to be tiny. My teacher separated all the Dentist's parts up, which isnt as funny but is more appropriate for a High School. She also added Denstist Patients, Random Customers and Skid Row Residents. It's a great chorus show if done well.

I directed and played Mushnik in LSOH and it is fun. Out of that list i would most love to do RAGTIME however I do not have any African Americans who can sing. H2$ is also great.

Little Shop would be fun. Hello Dolly, if staged properly, could be great too.

We did "Carousel" my junior year, and I wouldn't recommend it. But that's just because I hate pretty much everything about the show. Out of your list, I'd pick "Little Shop" or "The Sound of Music." I'd only do "Camelot" if I had some really strong singers.

Ragtime is hard to do in most high schools as you need so many strong leads. Diversity can be an issue as well.

If done well, Little Shop will be a sucess, as will Hello Dolly if you have a suitible star.

All I can say is that Hello Dolly is quite a star vehicle. It's fun but not too much big Chorus stuff.....good show though.

I would love to do Ragtime, personally, but as my school has absolutely NO diversity that would never happen. Unfortunately we are doing 42nd street this year... I can think of a million shows i'd rather do, but it's my senior year so I'm still going to do it.

Ragtime or How to Succeed in Business

My high school shows were Pirates of Penzance, The Wiz, The Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie and Footloose...all were big casts, except for The Wiz which was a littleeeee smaller.

H2$

So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld
