The reviews were very gentle and reserved. I don't think that they wanted to come across as racist if they gave this schlock all out pans.

There's no reason to keep this afloat and raise another 5 million. It's not like the reviews were stellar. It's not like they should try to hold out for award season (as Gentleman's Guide did). The public interest just isn't there.
