Posted: 6/28/05 at 10:53pmI think Hook was one of John Williams' best scores. The music is so character specific, which is why I would love to see Hook not as a musical, but as a ballet. It would really be great. Also, the contrast between the music of the normal world and the music of Neverland is so clearly defined that I think it would be a very transformative ballet.

From IMDB.com Trivia for "Hook":
"In 1985, composer John Williams and lyricist Leslie Bricusse worked on 'Hook', being a stage musical, but the project was scrapped after about ten songs were written. Only one song from the play, 'When You're Alone,' made it to the film. However, many of the play' themes can be heard in Williams' incidental music for the film."

No, I'd rather the long-awaited (30 years in the making)...
Jim Steinman's Neverland
A modern-day rock version of the Peter Pan legend (with most of the songs now hits in the form of Bat Out of Hell etc.)

This is a callback and a half, but... if anyone is interested, the new expanded Hook film soundtrack includes some demo songs from when the film was going to be a musical.
