Hair Seating/SRO Question(s)#1

Posted: 5/18/09 at 8:21pm

I'm trying to arrange a trip to see Hair with a group of my friends but we're all broke teenagers. We decided not to do lotto because there are too many of us that we probably couldn't all be able to get tickets. So:
1) Has anyone seen the show from the rear mezzanine? How was it?
2) We would do SRO, but that's only offered when the show's sold out obviously. Is the show selling out that we could do this?
3) Are there any good discounts for seats under/around $50 (Broadwaybox only had discounts for Orch)

Thanks

The rear mezz seats are great for the price. Its basically the same price as the Shrek rush or the 9 to 5 lotto. I think you can usually get SRO, maybe try for a Saturday night show when it is more typical for the show to be sold out.

I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

The rear mezz is ok, but I will never sit up there again. This is def. a orchestra show. The chances of you getting SRO is pretty good as the show has been selling out. I have been there on week days with SRO.

sgv123, I wouldn't say it's "definitely an orchestra show." I was in the mezz and it was brilliant still. The performers comes up there too! I would say to just try and get aisle seats if possible.

The view up there was fine and you are right....there is some cast interaction, but from what I have experienced there is more going on in the orchestra. You can not see what is going on in the aisles when you are in the mezz. If you want the full experience sit in tehe orchestra.

If you get SRO, is there cast interaction in that area of the theater or is it more towards the front of the orchestra?

you get plenty of cast interaction with SRO i've done it 3 times and it is great, espeically for 25 bucks. they sell them when the box office opens but strictly when it's sold out. i usually check online to see if they are sold out and if they are i go, if not i wait til it's closer to showtime.

There is cast interaction virtually anywhere where the actors can reach you.

I've done SRO, and there was plenty of interaction.

SRO goes on sale when the box office opens.

I HIGHLY recommend SRO, particularly the first 4 or so spots. There are 9 spots in total, I believe. It's just a matter of getting there early. The view for the first few spots is excellent, and comparable to a center orchestra seat. The lottery is a bitch for Hair, so I will definitely be doing SRO from here out.

For those that have done SRO, how early did you get there? Is there ever a line?
