Posted: 8/11/09 at 7:31pmDoes anyone know where I can find cheap tickets for Hair in NYC? I get a discount from my job but the seat selection is subpar.

Posted: 8/11/09 at 7:45pmYou can try the TKTS booth, but it's not always guaranteed they'll have tickets. Also try Broadwaybox.com

Hair has various deals (I feel like I've posted this before)
Lottery
$25 each cash only. 28 seats located in the boxes of the theater. Names taken at 5:30PM for the 8PM shows drawn at 6PM 11:30AM for the 2PM Mat.
SRO: $25 each
Rear mezz: $37 each

I agree with Namo. This IS all that matters. Go for partial view because you get Swenson's schlong in your face.

Well at least they know ONE thing won't be partial view...
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#9
Posted: 8/12/09 at 12:37amExactly. Besides, the only reason I went to Hair is so Caissie Levy will sit in my lap.

Posted: 8/12/09 at 12:43amI really don't think there are *bad* seats in this theater. I never sat in the boxes, but I have been in the orchestra and the mezz. I prefer the orchestra because of leg room, otherwise it is no big deal. Whatever discount tix are being offered to you...take them! Cast interaction or not, it is a great show.
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#12
Posted: 8/12/09 at 8:01amI've sat in the boxes twice in this theater for previous shows. For Sweet Charity, the only obstruction was in the elevator scene, and in the Wedding Singer, there was no problem at all (other than the show itself).

Posted: 8/12/09 at 10:25amwhat about rush tickets? Does anyone know if they offer those? how exactly does that work? I'm a novice to these things as you can tell.
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#14
Posted: 8/12/09 at 10:34amHair doesn't offer rush tickets just lotto SRO & cheap mezz
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#15
Posted: 8/12/09 at 10:36amAnd SRO is only offered if the show is otherwise sold out.
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#16
Posted: 8/12/09 at 10:41amyeah but sometimes if its close to selling out they sell it anyway
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#17
Posted: 8/12/09 at 10:42amso how does the lotto work? do you just show up at the appointed time to put your name down and you wait until they draw the names or if you leave do they contact you? if you're going with someone do they accept the names together or is it a everyman for himself deal?
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#18
Posted: 8/12/09 at 10:45amNo, you have to stay for the drawing. If you aren't there when your name is called, they move on to the next slip. You enter your name and the number of tickets you want (1 or 2). So if you go with someone, you both enter your names separately, but you both put down that you want 2 tickets, so if one of you wins, you both get in.

Posted: 8/12/09 at 10:54amI get it... that's really helpful! Thanks guys!
re: Hair tix... HELP!!!!#20
Posted: 8/12/09 at 11:02amPersonally, if you want to see the show so badly, I wouldn't turn down any seat offer. Especially for a show like this, which is popular. I learned this the hard way with another show a couple of weeks ago. I didn't want to do standing room, so I went to TKTS, and I paid about $60 more and I couldn't see very well.

Posted: 8/12/09 at 11:13amIf it were up to me I'd take what I could get however I was going to go with my mom and to say it in a nice way, she's prissy about where in the theatre she sits. kinda a pain in the ass but unavoidable.
