BoB - What took you so long? You must be slacking off on your predictable Hairspray jibes.

a clip from todays review journal ...
David Caldwell, the Las Vegas representative for Broadway producer Richard Frankel, checked with the home office Friday after a published report that "Hairspray," one of Frankel's shows, was being considered for The Mirage. There have been no negotiations, Caldwell says, "but we would be very interested and would love talking to them if they're that interested in talking to us."...

AH yes, attack HAIRSPRAY, kick a dog when it's "down";ie WILDLY JOYFUL AND SUCCESSFUL. Why just for that it should open TWO companies in Vegas, and I bet they both turn a profit! And Phantom2 is both funny and smart and really knows how to put together an "outfit"

Ever listen to the song "Ordinary Day" by Vanessa Carlson? "Just a boy, just an ordinary boy..." That would describe me. Oh, and I should warn you that I do giggle a lot.

How I would love for Hairspray to come here! It would bring me such joy and I might actually buy a ticket to see it. (I haven't paid to see a show here since Starlight Express for Prom)
However, I highly doubt it will. I mean - they've been talking to Cirque and other shows as well. Not to mention that the Treasure Island is trying to go more "adult", so I can't imagine the Mirage would want to bring in a "family" show. The family destination push of the last decade is really dying out. The adult, "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas theme" is coming out strong.

I saw Starlight Express when it played at the Hilton. It played here for a few years, right DivaMommy? Man it was good. I saw RENT there for the first time too. We used to have Chicago at the Mandalay Bay for a few years and I think Paige Davis was in it. She played Annie and us for Roxie or something like that. Sadly I didn't see it. All we have now is Broadway at the Aladdin. I've seen RENT there, and now it's coming back in March, then 42nd Street, then Cats. It's pretty good.
Personally, I would like to see The Producers, but I know in my heart they're gonna do Hairspray, but I don't mind. DivaMommy, have you heard anything about the Venetian having Phantom of the Opera? That's what I heard but I don't believe it.

Just a thought on my part but...
You know what's sad? When a poster, let's just makeup a name...say something like...bestofbestofbroadway, forgets just how small some professional circles really are. Forgets how tightly knit some communities can be. Forgets that even though they may feel the need to repeatedly express their opinions they've also repeatedly revealed much about themself. So when job hunting and need for employment roles around, when the university life has ended, when one wants to enter their choosen field, one wonders if they will be looked upon with a jaundice eye. One wonders if a resume will be reviewed and then speculated as to whether the applicant is possibly bestofbestofbroadway.
That's all I'm saying.

the new cast --- ahhh ....
all the newbies are pretty good and once they find their stage chemistry they will be really good. they were pretty talented its just hard to let go of your favorites or the reasons you really loved the show ... they have some new changes in the show and they work for the better and if not anything else, seeing it for the new dynamos is worth the ticket price ... Jen, Tina & Reyna are phenominal together!!
