How has the Hairspray Lotto been? I'm thinking of trying for either a tuesday or Wednessday night. I would need 4 tickets. If I don't get lotto do they offer discounts other then the one on broadwaybox

Posted: 8/5/07 at 12:45pmYou're unlikely to get all 4 tickets, but from what I understand, they rarely sell out of standing room tickets.
re: Hairspray Lottery#2
Posted: 8/5/07 at 12:50pmIt's been kind of crazy. Yesterday there was a family that got 4 tickets, but that's kind of rare.

re: Hairspray Lottery#5
Posted: 8/8/07 at 6:08pmThe Hairspray lottery has been busy EVERY day. They take names three hours before the show and draw 2.5 hours before the show. So if it's a 3pm show, they take names at noon and draw at 12:30.

I've tried EVERY day lottery. And no, people are up and around and doing all kinds of things. If it was the Bible belt and not NYC, perhaps a noon lottery wouldn't be busy, but it's not.
The lottery at Wicked is INSANE on Sundays and that's only 30 minutes later.

What Is With All Of The Capitalization?

Hee...seriously, though- heck today I tried a noon lotto on a weekday, while a chunk of the city had no subway service, and there were easily a good (60-75?) people there, and I lost. And I also lost the Hairspray lotto today too.

re: Hairspray Lottery#15
Posted: 8/16/07 at 8:15pmAgain, lottery has been BUSY EVERY TIME lately. They either have 22 or 24 seats...usually. Sometimes less, but they let you know before they draw how many they have. So there would probably be between 12 and 24 names drawn ~ depending on how many need 2 and how many need 1.

Posted: 3/18/08 at 10:21amOkay, major bump! But I'm thinking of doing the lotto this Saturday for Hairspray. How has it been during the winter/on the weekends? And what time do I have to get there? Thanks :)
re: Hairspray Lottery#17
Posted: 3/18/08 at 10:24amUm.. what time you get there doesn't matter. Just make sure it's before they draw names.

They start taking names for lotto 3 hours before curtain I believe (I could be wrong, I'm going by memory) and the drawing is an hour and a half before curtain (once again, probably wrong so check on that). Just check those times, and have fun!

re: Hairspray Lottery#19
Posted: 3/18/08 at 11:45amThe taking names 3 hours before I believe is right, but unless they've changed it, they draw 2.5 hours before the show (30 minutes after they start taking names). Because you could go from Hairspray over to Wicked, Rent or Avenue Q (and at one point then Spelling Bee and then Drowsy)). Several times I was trying Wicked with friends and people won that one and were trying to sell the Hairspray lottery tickets they'd just won.

Posted: 3/18/08 at 2:11pmYep, you're right jordangirl. They start taking names 3 hours before curtain and then draw names a half hour later. As for how crowded it's been, I haven't been there on a Saturday in a long time so I'm not sure about that...it kinda depends I guess. Recently I've been there where it's crowded and then a few weeks later everyone won, so there's really no telling how busy it'll be. Only thing is that it'll be the day before Easter, and it tends to be slightly more crowded around holidays, with people coming to visit and such.

Sorry, another question!
The lottery is just @ the theater box office correct? And also, if your name is pulled, can you purchase 2 tickets?
re: Hairspray Lottery#24
Posted: 3/20/08 at 3:14pmThe lottery is right by the box office and you can purchase up to 2 tickets.
