Hairspray Movie in Baltimore

Does anyone know the shooting schedule for the Hairspray movie in Baltiomore and where they will be shooting? There was also mention a while abck about local extrs, any information whatso ever would be helpful. thanks guys.

and I don't even think they filmed in Baltimore at all, but if they did, it was only a scene or two. The bulk of the film was filmed in Toronto.

Though most of the principal cast (John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, etc.) are finished with principal photography, filming continues -- they expect to completely wrap on December 5th (or sooner).

The film is/was shot entirely on location in Toronto -- both interiors AND exteriors. John Waters approved this AND was on location (he has a cameo in the film), and judging by the incredible detail work by the scenic design team, you can not tell one inch of it wasn't shot in Baltimore. Toronto was chosen for economic purposes and because certain areas still resemble the Baltimore of the early 60's, so major exterior work was limited as apposed to the huge overhaul which would have been required if they shot the film in Baltimore.

The film opens nationwide on July 20, 2007.

"Filming will take place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from September 5 to December 8, 2006, with the rest of the production and location settings being done in Baltimore (the film's setting) in-between and after the Toronto scenes. The majority of the filming is being done in Toronto rather than Baltimore because of lower costs in Canada and because Toronto is better equipped with the soundstages needed to film a musical. They will also do some of the post-production, including some of the musical numbers, in Los Angeles."

Jesus Christ people, wikipedia is CRAP..........please learn to use REAL sources. Any moron can put something up on wikipedia, that is why teachers and librarians do NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT allow it as a source in anything students do.

Using wikipedia is as bad as using weapons of mass destruction in Iraq as an excuse to kill thousands of people.

people who use wikipedia REALLY need to learn the correct sources to use for REAL, VERIFIABLE, information.

Exactly. I had to correct someone countless of times on a subject in wikipedia.

So many typos and factual errors I just told the guy to just remove the damn thing or just start over. He chose to start all over.

AND this was on wikipedia. Oy!

As for HAIRSPRAY doing some location shots in Baltimore. Ain't happenin'. My brother works in the 2nd Unit crew, which is the crew which shoots all the establishing exterior footage AND they ain't shooting sh*t in Baltimore. Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) is and was shot in Toronto. All the adult principals have since concluded their filming, only the young cast is still on location in Toronto filming. They're slated to finish principal photography ahead of schedule in less than 3 weeks.

where were some of you people a few months ago. they announced back then that it was being entirely filmed in Toronto, main reason: it was cheaper than to film in Baltimore. that's why a great amount of films film in Toronto/Canada, it's cheaper.
