Hairspray Movie's Amber

as Kathy Griffin would say, "Its a rumour, and that's good enough for me."

A legit source has named Brittany Snow as Hairspray's Amber Von Tussle.

This wouldn't be a big a strecth for Brittany who appeared on "American Dreams" where she played a dancer on 'American Bandstand' not unlike the Corny Collins show. She also appeared in Hairspray Director Adam Shankman's Disney Picture "The Pacifier."

As far as I know Brittany has never had a full out singing role. However did voice over work on a Hayao Miyazaki film called "whispers of the heart" where she sang along side friend and fellow actor in the film, Ashley Tisdale. The two sang 'Country Roads' as two young school girls in a soft breathy tone.

She also appeared on the American Drems soundtrack singing "My Boyfriend’s Back" with Stacie Orrico and fellow cast member Vanessa Lengies.

This is a rumor I see to be true. If it turns out false, Im sorry for waisting your time.

Official word- may come sooner than later.

if this is true....Id be pleased with that. I was a big american dreams fan....and lately Brittany's done roles on Nip/Tuck and L and O that show she can pull off the Amber-ness. Haven't heard her sing...but I have faith they all had to pass a vocal audition.

So basically, we've got an unknown actress possibly for Tracy? and that's it? Everyone else has a name....interesting. I'll be interested in who they snag for Link....

well granted Brittany Snow has a small "name."

Seaweed maybe played by a small "name" since going opposite Bynes. I would Love if Link when to a virtual unknown- but thats doubtful, 'a marketable hunk with a name'... studios love that.

Probably too random of a rumour to not be true. Frankly, I'm a little surprised they didn't end up with a bigger name for that role. I know they heavilly pursued Lindsay Lohan.

I really wish the part went to Mandy Moore. If offered a few years ago she might have done it - but i think she has too many projects lined up now.

Aww...I love Britney Snow. I was a big American Dreams fan, and actually have the soundtrack. She was great in Nip/Tuck as well, even if I couldn't stand the character. I think she can pull it off nicely. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

I haven't cast it in my mind. It's not my job, but I can give it some thought.

But really - Queen Latifah as Maybelle? How...creative. And it just went downhill from there. I like all these actors, don't get me wrong. It's just that there is nothing to excite me.

I wouldn't call it creative, either, but definately interesting.

However, I think they are casting this movie well. While the choices have all been safe, I think they have all been good choice up to this point.

Brittany has also appeared in regional theater productions such as Pirates of Penzance, Annie, The King & South Pacific and in a national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.


So that bodes well.

raith......lmao. i am in total and complete agreement. i hope it turns out wonderful, im one of those people who believe that nothing can be said until the film comes out, but as of right now, these all seem like people who would be great in theory. nothing has knocked my socks off or has me really interested yet. except for john travolta and billy crystal. im uber excited for that.but i mean, i dunno everyone else.....

I agree with you.

With Amanda Bynes and this rumor of Brittany.. I got to say when I found out - i wasnt like. "oh yeh! This is awesome!" - I went "oh yeh, I can see that. cool"

I really want to be wowed. I think the best casting news I have heard was when Queen signed on. Then I got excited.

But I have faith that the producers will make it wonderful and hopefully they get a great art department and cinematographer.

I find the Latifah casting soooo boring - and so predictable. Really. And like I said, it went downhill from there. The only slightly interesting casting is Bynes, but even that is some major typecasting.

I'm unsure of the disappointment. Other than wild card Travolta, this movie is being cast perfectly to type. Everyone seems completely dead on for their roles. We're bemoaning the fact that the creative staff has done their job well?

speaking for myself, i'm unsatisfied with the dull casting of D list "stars".

I'm actually most excited for young Nikki who was just announced. That's about it. Amanda Bynes I'm sure will be good. Travolta seems wrong and forced. other than that, everything about the casting choices so far are very... eh.

Travolta ain't D-list. Perhaps before Look Who's Talking. Perhaps B-list now...but no way D.

Bynes? She's practically a cottage industry with a huge tween fanbase.

Snow...maybe...but certainly more of an up-and-comer.

Getting one of the country's biggest queens to play Edna is creative? That's what they have ALWAYS done. Nothing new or even really interesting about that.

But I wouldn't call Travolta D-list either. I would probably guess he is still an A-lister. Kathy Griffin herself said that Roseanne is A-list. If she is, Travolta is.

And wait...They are talking Michelle Pfeiffer as Velma? How did I miss that?

I'm more interested in who they cast as Link, because I want to knooow. I guess Brittany would work, but I'm not really familiar with her work. So, sure, why not.
