I noticed in early videos from that site that the YCSTB dress for Tracy was black and white to look like her Without Love dress but now it's pink polkda dot what caused that change and when did it happen?

Second, I remember someone on the board saying the big can use to spray when did it spray and why did they stop that?

The changed from a beaded version of Tracy's prison outfit to the pink and gold polka dot version happened very late in previews. I am sure only Jack O'Brien and William Ivey Long can fully answer that question, but don't you think that the black nd white is vastly out of palette with the rest of the costumes in the scene? several months after opening, the costume was changed again to the current version wich has a pink plaid pattern overlayed over a pink sequined dress. However, the pink and gold polka dot dress has surfaced again on the NETworks tour and on current stand-by Annie Funke.

I think you are confused about the Ultra Clutch can. The can onstage during the final scene has never sprayed 'hairspray' during the show. The can sprays CO2 from the base when it opens to reveal Edna and it sprays streams from air canons on wither side of the nozzle on the final beat of "Beat". When people refer to the giant can spraying the shows faux hairspray, they are refering to the giant sequined can the is hung from the facade of the theatre above the marquee. It was designed to spray periodically throughout the day, much like the prop cans used in the show. However, it often malfunctioned. At times it wouldn't spray anything and at other times, you'd see 52nd street covered in a bright purple fog. It ended up being a hundred thousand dollar dud.
