Isn't it GREAT to have Marc Shaiman here to post to us?
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail
-Into the Fire

If we are picking form people who have been in the show I vote for GAMBY! But Iam aware that Hollywood folks playing 16 and Bway people playing 16 are very different... I vote for me (yup in the Hollywood playing 16 age group)! .. I dedicated you have to give me that! lol
I'm very excited and I am sure whom ever is cast in it it will be great! It's Hairspray its got to be!

Maybe John Waters should be given a small part. Even just a walk on. It would be kind of like Stan Lee's cameos in the movies based on his comics. Other than that, they couldn't do better than the original cast.
So now you've met the court of 364, and if you ever wish to come...don't.

perhaps john waters can play the male authority figure, or minimally the mr. pinky part if they break up the role

he should keep the cameo that he has in the musical.

OOOHHH... haha Broadwayguy2. He didn't have a cameo in the musical...I get it!
John Water's said in the commentary for the '88 movie that he would never be in another one of his movies. His part was really funny tho.
But on the cast... PLEASEEEEEE Chester Gregory II. And Jennifer Gambatese. And like Loge said let's not see Nicole Kidman as Velma or anything.

Addicted, John waters IS in every performance of the musical. He is the voice of the TV Reporter on the television when Tracy and Link break out of jail.

HA this board makes me feel more and more stupid. But now that you mention it... I vaguely remember reading that... but I don't remember the voice when I saw the show. But my memory sucks...
