omg yes. Daniel Orlandi is genius.
Mary Zophres did 'Catch Me If You Can'- and she did a brilliant job with that aswell.
I am such a fan of the Hairspray costumes thus far. I do feel they could have gone a bit further with Edna, But John wanted to keep her simple. Here is what he said in an interview while filming:
"There was an instinct to make the clothes even more flamboyant. I said no. [My character is] lower middle class [like I was]. People in my neighborhood admired Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and Anita Ekberg; not Zsa Zsa Gabor."
I respect that John knows his characters well, and has ideas of how Edna should look and move. His best idea - I think- was suggesting to the costume designer that Edna's outfits be form fitting.
I do like the way Edna looks and moves in the film. She is very cute and sexy at the same time.
I think it's safe to say if John had not played Edna or had he not spoken up- Edna would look very different.
I just wish Edna was a tad more glamorous- post makeover. However it does seem that in the 'timeless to me' fantasy sequences and 'welcome to the 60's' they went all out, so that's good!
"Zac is sweet as can be. He's very much just a sweet kid from California who happens to have a face that looks like it was drawn by Michelangelo, (if Michelangelo did anime)."
-Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"
