I have a ticket to see Hairpsray in N row tomorrow at 3.00pm.
To those familiar with the Neil Simon theater, do you think I should try to get front row in the lottery? I prefer to sit close, however when I went to the Marquis today, Row N seemed quite close and I wondered if the NS also felt intimate.
Does anyone know how big the Neil Simon theater is, and what their recommendation would be?
Thanks.
The stage is high up so if you get front row you will be looking up a lot. Row N should not be that bad I never sat that far back I always won the lottery the few times I saw it. it's a big theater but not as big as the gershwin you should see fine from row n. But you can always try the lottery if you don't care about looking up the whole show.
Stay with row N. That way you can take in the whole show.
I've sat in row D, row H, and row R in the orchestra and D was waaayy too close, H was perfect and R was a little far back but not too bad.
N is good.
Have fun, write us a review!
The Neil Simon Theatre has the highest stage that I have seen. Every time I have have been to Hairspray I felt sorry for the people in the first couple of rows. I recommend sitting a little further back if possible.

Is it higher than the stage at the Palace Theatre? That thing is high and I had such a headache and a stiff neck by the end of Legally Blonde I thought that I had to visit my chiropractor the day after.
I sat on ROW C Center, yes the stage was high..but I did not have stiff neck or anything.. I thought it was fine! I actually love being soo near the stage.

The first time I saw it I can't remember a thing but I think I was sitting somewhere around N. Then I saw it this past summer and lost lotto and got standing room and that was fine because that's pretty far back.
Here is a seating chart

When I went in April I sat row N center and it was fine. I am use to sitting really close from lotto/rush, but the seats were still good and you can see everything clearly. I fel tbad for my dad would sat behind the worlds tallest man.
The stage is high, but I've never found it prohibitively so ~ and I'm not tall, only 5'6 1/2". I was much more annoyed by the Palace's stage height and I was second row there. (Then again, I also don't find the rear mezz at Studio 54 as bad as everyone goes on about it being either.)
You know you have the ticket for row N, so why not try the lottery if you want to, IMHO.
Thanks everyone! I think I will stick to N. I am in the first 5 rows of every other show so I will experience this one a little further back.
You guys are the best!

I've seen Hairspray 7 times in the front row and maybe its just because I've gotten used to it, but I don't have a problem with the high stage, you don't miss anything. I felt Gypsy had an equally high stage from the first row as well.
I've also seen the show Row N! You'll be fine and the seats are great to get the entire effect of all the lighting and staging.
HAVE FUN!!
i sat in row h and i thought it was perfect. I feel like there is a slight rise in the floor between rows g and h.

yeah i got the lottery and didnt think the stage was too high or anything? maybe it was cuz of all the famous ppl in it i was awe struck. when your getting spit on by ashley and thinking paul vogt is gonna fall on you your not thinking about stage height i guess haha. thats the only thing is that when they come up front like in your timeless to me or any of the dance parts. they are right on top of you. everything else is good.
