This was great musical for kids but not for adults. I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars. I would not say that kids younger than 5 should see it because it might be hard for them to follow it. I would not say that adults should see this one because it doesn't have the kind of sofistication an adult might enjoy. I enjoyed it when I saw it a couple of years ago and now that I've seen it again (which by the way was why I had to leave last night) I found it a little less funny the second time. So, I would say that when you're in the right mood for a crazy comedy and not a sofisticated mystery, you should see Hairspray. But... once you've seen it one time and laugh, don't go back for a second time and expect to laugh again because it you're like me (which you may not be) it won't be funny and it may ruin it. So, if you have any disagreements or you agree please put them below. Please do NOT put comments like, "This guy is an idiot, read his other report on Shoshana Bean" please. Also, please do not use this site just to have a random conversation okay? Thank you.

Wow, I found it just as funny the second time I went. And it actually has a lot of adult humor kids may not understand.

There is only ONE thing I agree with you on, children under 5 should NEVER go to plays, musicals, concerts, unless it is Dora The Explorer or Sesame Street! I really think that children should be at least 6 or 7, their attention span is not long enough and they begin to disrupt those around them. As for Adults not liking it, they are the few that would understand the meaning of so many of the jokes and innuendos like Debbie Reynolds and Crooners and so many references to the 60"s. My Aunts who are in their 70's thought it was the funniest show they had ever seen and went back to see the Tour once they saw it on Broadway! My cousin who is 10 begged to go again. I have seen it several times and it's charm never leaves for me, it is beautiful music and score, incredible dancing, funny lyrics & dialogue, and all with a real message about life and even includes a history lesson in a wonderful way. Sometimes you build things up so much in your mind, that nothing ever really compares again, the imagination is a real gift, but it can dissapoint you too when it is compared to reality.

I think you're right about that. I do think that there is a charm to the play that can't ever go away. You are also right about how children at age 5 will disturb others because it is a long time for little kids to be sitting and watching a play. It's interesting to see whatyouown223 say that he thought it was just as funny the second time. I guess people are different.

Another thing that I really liked about the show was the music and the HILARIOUS lyrics. Those were still funny the second time, it was just mainly the dialogue that wasn't as funny the second time.

My favorite song is "Welcome to the 60's" and I never really thought about how elders would be able to truly understand that part.

Well, thank you for replying. If you have anything else to say, please reply to this message and thank you.

P.S. Starlight2, do you want and avatar (a picture at the side of your message) like I have of Idina. I'll help you do that if you'd like to.

"You are right about that"

*smacks head and rolls eyes".....wow.....

(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

Idinamenzelfan how about you stop making threads that use opinions as answers. Just take a rest on posting/making threads.

That was uncalled for. I don't make opinions as answers. I even basically said that everyone has their own opinion.

I will not stop making threads just because you tell me to. I like to state my opinion you physco jerk. I used to think you were nice until you just accused me of making up posts!!!! That was not nice and was completely harsh.

Well let's see:
DRS or Spamalot which is better? opinion answers
Idinas fabulous performance if you agree and what not = opinions
and the rest all have opinions in them

I know everyone has there own opinion but don't go against them. I just counted a few minutes ago you made about 4 threads that are on the first page everyone else has about 2. Also don't be calling me names. I didn't accuse you of maknig posts because ya know how would we be talking if you didnt make posts. I don't see how it was harsh if its true. Just take a break from asking everyones opinion.

Idinamenzelfan, you should not be reporting ikm. If anyone here should be reported here it's you. For one you completely attack for no reason performers and call people names like "phsyco jerk". Please don't go crazy if people don't have your same views, because I promise there are many people who won't.

expect to laugh again because it you're like me (which you may not be)

You're right. I'm not. I've seen it three times and I think it was amazing. Sure, the story line got old, but the performers are just oozing talent.

Also, some advice for you.
1. Don't tell people to do on this thread. It may be "your thread" because you started it, but people are still allowed to say whatever they please (illegal or not).
2. At this point, don't try to help people. It won't really work for the position you're in.
3. Don't report EVERYONE you get locked in a heated argument with (or in your case, anyone who posts in your thread).
4. Take my previous advice: if you're insulting someone, do it right.

My spheal is over. Scared? Go ahead. Report me. I dare you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

this whole situation is becoming hilarious.

500, GO AWAY!! report me if you will, but you are just a totally ridiculous character...its like...if broadwayworld had a SNL sketch, it would be you!

By the way, just because you see something a second time and it isnt as funny, it doesnt mean its not a very good show for adults...it means youve heard the jokes before!
