So glad you enjoyed it! I was there as well. 2 rows behind. Alysha! I saw her run in at the opening an knew darn well what was going on. Hailey sounded fantastic today!! This was my 4th time to the island and in my own opinion, was on of the best! This cast was on fire! Hailey's acting was towards the end was heart wrenching. Just brilliant. Alex is getting so comfortable in the role and trying different vocalizations and they are working!!! Norm makes "Rain" an actual full powerhouse of a song!! Love that he has joined the cast. I loved Tamyra. Now, Merle scared the ever-loving crap out of me and always will. She is a queen! Tamyra was completely different, she had a sinister evil to her, with amazing vocal choices. She just shows it all off.! I never realized she is so tiny, but damn I would never want to get in her way! Loren Lott is my girl, even though she wasn't Ti Moune (I will see her one day), she just shines, absolutely gorgeous and always makes the most out of whatever she is given. I am sure she sings the heck out of Asaka as well, but BRAVO to Alex for going 100% on attendance! The show is just in such good shape! What a cast! Go see this if you are waiting! I noticed there was no one in standing room today, so I guess everyone won the lotto?? 

I spoke with Alysha after the show, she expected to perform today. They swung her out last minute to learn Ti Moune. She said she is the "Emergency Cover" who will now be a regular cover. Hailey is still getting used to 8 shows a week (at 18 years old) and they just want to be on the safe side if Loren is needed for another role. Alysha watched today for the first time ever (and was screaming and applauding her family, so awesome to see). She said she will have an official put-in Friday. They are making her costumes now. She had tears in her eyes talking about it because she thought she would never go on. I honestly cannot wait to hear her sing this role.I saw all her Schuyler Sisters (Eliza was my favorite) and that girl can sing!!!!!!

Would all cast be expected on a Mon night? No understudies?

Roderick was on last Sunday as Papa Ge (per his IG) and he looked HOT! He also said he no dates coming up but will announce if he knows in advance. 

Loren said if multiple people are out or on for principle roles, they have split tracks (that will combine a male and female track if needed). You never know, they may be hiring an extra male and female swing soon.

There were two understudies on for the Monday night just past when I saw the show, but in minor roles (I can't even recall which). Personally, this is a show I was and am slightly worried about understudies for - the show schedule is too intense. I know it's typical of many shows right now (and in the past), but it just seems crazy that they have a Friday night, then FOUR weekend shows, then Monday night. While the show isn't as long as other shows and it's a genuine ensemble piece (as opposed to star vehicle) - you can't exactly walk through this music. And because of the direction and choreography there might be perhaps more stage time for the actors than they might have had in other 90-minute shows.

And thanks to the billing arrangement, if someone like Lea is out I'm not even sure if we'd get a refund (but of course, the show is happy to have her billboard out the front with some pull quotes about how great she is in the show).
