"According to an Equity casting notice, Hamilton is looking for fresh faces for its Broadway run."

How do you think this will affect, if at all, Hamilton's performance commercially? Surely much of the buzz surrounding the show relates to the current cast, not merely the material itself or the physical production?

I think HAMILTON provides the complete opposite of what you're saying, and people ARE in fact going for the material and content. I don't know a single name in the current cast other than (obviously) LMM and Jonathan Groff.

Oh, I wasn't trying to say that the names involved are the main draw. What I meant was the reviews and people in general have been very complimentary of the cast and I was wondering if people thought that changing the principal cast entirely, creating an unknown quantity for what has proved to be a secure show thus far, would in any way alter its prospects of success.

I'm fairly certain that the entire show isn't being recast- the audition notice posted is a requirement for Actor's Equity.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

It's most likely required. If anything they'll find some additional swings and possible understudies. Even without this cast there's plenty of Miranda's favorites who did readings over the years. I wouldn't be surprised if any of them ended up replacing.

Yes, I'm willing to bet it's either required or for understudies, or both. At the very least, I can't imagine LMM NOT leading the Broadway run.

The cast descriptions on the audition notices are HILARIOUS.

Not to be redundant but, yeah... It is by Equity rules they have to hold an EPA call for a Broadway transfer. I doubt they're looking to "replace" anyone.

The show is not being recast. As everyone said, it is a required call. I also wouldn't be surprised if they cast some offstage covers for the leads from that call, as they currently have none.

But if they're looking for understudies, which would make sense, wouldn't the casting notice say that?
