I'm new to this board so I don't know if this has been discussed before.  What about us UPSTATE?  If by some slim chance I won the the Hamilton lottery and scored tickets, the lottery for the evening performance loses at 4 PM.  That doesn't give me enough time to get on an Amtrak and be at the theater by 7.  How could I get that changed?  Any ideas?

The same way you would have gotten it changed if they never switched to a digital lottery.

(hint: you won't.)

The lottery is a privilege, not a right. You will just have to try it when you are close enough to make it to the show.

Of course, I understand that.  My point was that it favors downstaters and if it closed only an hour earlier, it would be helpful because then I could make the 3:!0 train.  I guess I'm an optimist!

It favors people close to the actual theater, yes

It's not going to change. You mention that it favors downstaters, which it does, but that's because the city is where the theater is. The lottery is not meant for everyone in the country to enter. It's meant to give people a shot at inexpensive tickets.

This is the insane part about the Hamilton Lottery....if someone enters that logistically would have no way of getting to the theatre by the showtime (let's say California), the tickets are not lottoed off to another person that entered the lottery for $10. Instead, the seats are sold at $177 on the cancellation line.

Do not enter if you can't make it to the theatre.

I do wish that they ran their lottery like The Lion King's, where you enter the night before and are alerted around 9am, only because it would allow for more time to offer unclaimed tickets to other lottery participants.

But for now, the lottery is meant only for those who can make it to the theater in time.

Exactly.

I like a good rhyme more than a good time

Enter on 8 PM show days (WED, FRI, SAT).
