I realized the photo was in my trash, but not deleted. I checked again and it's gone now (granted it's fake anyways). I am pretty wary of hard tickets as well and that's pretty much all I was seeing on CL. I don't know that I would have actually gotten anything on CL either, but thought it may at least be worth exploring regardless. I guess I'll just try my luck with the lottery and StubHub.

I saw that, but I'm actually from Chicago, so I'm going to try and get tickets to the Chicago run when individual tickets go onsale. Just was hoping to see the OBC when I'm in town if possible! Thanks though!!

Lin himself told everyone not to buy Hamilton tickets on Craigslist. The majority of the tickets are fakes, and they are trying to rip off tourists who don't know any better.
The solution to this entire thread is to just not buy tickets to Hamilton on Craigslist as they will almost assuredly not be tickets to Hamilton. Use Ticketmaster. Case closed. Can we move on?

Just because YOU know that doesn't mean that EVERYONE coming to New York who wants to see Hamilton (gosh, what a surprise) knows that. Sheesh.
Greased, other users just spent 29 posts explaining why people should know that. Why do we need to keep rehashing a dead-end topic? Hop off.

YOU hop off. The OP was posting valid questions of concern for someone who isn't typically "in-the-know" on this sort of thing. Hamilton's exposure will bring some outsiders here to propose those questions and look for honest and sincere answers from people with knowledge. Not people who will dismiss them and ask them if we can "move on" from the topic they proposed.
Brando's situation came to a conclusion, Greased, and honestly, it's for the sake of people not "in-the-know" to have a bottom-line answer going forward rather than pore through pages of threads for thoughts about this: do not use Craigslist for Hamilton. It's as simple as that. This isn't really a conversation where we can discuss the pros and cons and gauge each situation case-by-case—the answer should always be no. I won't apologize for trying to condense this as precisely as possible for the future.

If it helps, I have purchased tickets to Hamilton off of craigslist but I did go through a very long process to ensure they were real. My situation may be a little different though because I purchased them the day of. They had a last minute emergency that day and couldn't use them. After emailing him, the guy provided me with his phone number after I had voiced my concerns about tickets fraud. He said he completely understood and would do whatever it takes to ensure they were real. The tickets were transferrable online so he said he would transfer them to me before the show so I could go into the box office and have them print them out for me to ensure they were real. He also accepted payment the day after the show to ensure that I saw it and everything worked out.
My tip is just to take every precaution until you are 100% sure they are real. If this isn't possible then it isn't worth it. If you can pay the person after the date of the show, you won't loose any money if they end up being fake. You could risk a huge disappointment but thats your call.

Craigslist is simply not worth the risk. You're better off chancing one of the many ticket re-sellers, paying your dues in the cancellation line or just waiting for the next block to open up unexpectedly!
