Always MY fair lady, always the sweet, dear savior of a somewhat lost musical theatre childhood. I still cry at "Wouldn't it be Loverly" and the fond memories it brings back. Happy 80th Birthday, dear Julie, and thank you.

A true STAR of the highest order, she's been a part of my life pretty much forever through The Sound Of Music and Mary Poppins.

Leave it to Mr Nowack to post some stunning shots of Julie onstage that I've never seen before. Magnificent in every decade of her long career, she is true Broadway royalty. A toast to Dame Julie. Here's hoping she finds time to complete her followup memoir to the lovely HOME. We're still waiting for her to continue the story of her Hollywood years and beyond.

What an incredible performer. My grandmother always likes to brag about seeing her in the original New Haven run of My Fair Lady.

Wow, Fantod-- I wonder if your grandma got to see her sing "Say a Prayer for Me Tonight"? What about that getting- ready-for-the-ball Ballet that was cut? Rex singing "Come To the Ball"? Would love to know what those scenes were like if she can remember.

She adores the show, and her playing the LP of it in her house on repeat when I was little was basically my introduction to the idea of musical theatre. Her memory isn't what it used to be, but I'll ask her if she remembers any songs other than the ones on the album. She does describe the show as being almost 4 hours when she saw it, so I imagine a lot of cut stuff was there when she saw it.
