Happy 90th Birthday, Leontyne Price!

Leontyne Price is 90 years old today! Despite her fame and numerous recordings I feel she is somewhat underrated today. So many of her recordings are must-owns including Tosca, Ernani, Trovatore, Butterfly, Aida and BOTH La Forza del Destinos she recorded for RCA.

I don't think I agree that Price is underrated, particularly among American singers, but I will take any chance to praise her artistry. However, if there is one area where I think she might be underrated, it's her German performances. Here is one of my favorites: her performance of "Zweite brautnacht" from Strauss' Die Aegyptische Helena.
