re: Happy Birthday, Cy Coleman!

Cy Coleman's best musical IMO was 1961's under-appreciated LITTLE ME, with hilarious lyrics by his partner Carolyn Leigh, and starring the brilliant comedian from the early days of television, Sid Caesar. It opened during a very long newspaper strike in NYC, which kept its glowing reviews and crucial newspaper advertising from the general public. The famous New York Herald Tribune theatre critic Walter Kerr called LITTLE ME "a blockbuster that is as gentle as a breeze". Its later revivals never captured the brilliance of the OBC, and failed unfortunately. The CD can still be purchased on one of the internet sites, but I can't remember which one. It is worth looking for. In my 54 years of theatre going, LITTLE ME stands out as THE funniest musical I have ever seen. "Here's To Us", the show's final number, is a fitting song for Cy Coleman's birthday anniversary.

Edit: I just checked and the CD is available on Amazon.com and ArkivMusic.com. It is a CD-R release, I believe.
