I just checked with the airline and my flight is still set to leave at the expected time. That's NOW! Wait'll I get to the airport--then it will be a different story.

I'm still here!
Kennedy Airport was a disaster last night. Terminal 1 was crowded with thousands of passengers waiting for flights. The terminal had only partial power and computers were not working-- neither were the luggage scanners.
Indeed, my flight was scheduled to depart on time, however there were approx. 2,000 people competing for seats on that flight. The terminal's a/c was not working and it was intolerably hot there. I saw two elderly people pass out and medical help had a difficult time getting to them because of the throng.
I left after a few hours and returned home. I will try to re-schedule my trip today. I assume the Belgian adventure will be cancelled, but the French leg of the journey is still possible.

I WISH there was ice tinkling at Kennedy Airport last night. Without a/c and with all of those thousands of people crammed in Terminal 1, I had perspiration dripping off me like a waterfall. I could have used some ice--or anything cold (like Albin's personality!)

I'm re-scheduled for an evening flight on Monday 8/18. This will curtail my time in Belgium, but my week in Lourdes remains the same.

I'm a latecomer to this thread, but I wanted to say BEST WISHES" to the ol' D.P.
Isn't Belgium wonderful? Where are you going? Antwerp, or beautiful Bruges? Brusells is OK, but it doesn't have the oomph of the other cities. Don't forget to see the Ghent altarpiece by Jan Van Eyck!
