It really is about time for this to be revived. Although it's not one of my favorite shows, it certainly has tons of charm and a great score. I musically directed a production of this over the summer - and while it was hard at times to enjoy doing it - it was exciting and I learned a great deal - I'm very excited to hear a new cast perform it. I thought Harry was fine in SP, and decent on W&G. His acting has yet to impress me, but he certainly has the perfect voice for Sid. I would love to see Toni Collette as Babe - I wouldn't have thought of her off hand, but she has a fantastic voice and is a GREAT GREAT actress. Other possibilities are Marla Schaffell, Sarah Berry, Jane Lanier, Karen Ziemba, or Isabell Keating. As far as Hines, I would love to see John Cariani or, dare I say, Matthew Broderick.
I think this could be a really good show - let's just be thankful that Jerry Zak's isn't involved. I kind of hope, though, that Fosse's oringinal STEAM HEAT choreography is used - it's too perfect, but I'm excited to see what Marshall would do with it.
We shall see...
