Very carefully
Should never happen. Nuff, as they say, said.

One of my friends wants to write it... lol. He says he's going to have Sondheim do the music (he's ambitious) but I think ALW would probably be a better fit.
Well, if they can find a way to put Lord of the Rings on stage....
I doubt it will happen until the full book series is completed and the film versions have all been released.
Then... I'd bet money that it will happen sometime after that.
...And if they can create a buffalo stampede and a waterfall in "Lion King," do you really think someone can't come up with an innovative concept for a Quidditch match?
I guess the question is would it be one musical or seven :P
"nuff said"? What does that mean? Nothing was said. Just a title to something that doesn't exist.

It won't happen. At least not until the copyrights expire. JK Rowling has a lot of control over the material.
I wouldn't be surprised if it happened seeing as that Lord of the Rings musical is in the making.
I wonder if it would be introduced in London or on Broadway...
Is this a real thing or a joke? I cant tell.
Is there real talk of a harry potter musical?

Gosh, I hope not. Aren't they making enough money off HP as it is?
I really have no desire to see The Lord of the Rings on stage either.
Jeez...
You can't think about a revival of South Pacific but you can think of a Harry Potter musical? God oh fricken mighty!

Yeah, they'll probably just wait until the 7th book is out, or the 7th movie and then just compile them all into one big musical. Just pick the highlights of the books and put them in there, or id imagine that's how it would be done. there no way they're making 7 different shows ha. i honestly don't think it would work.

It would never work. What would they do- act out each book in 15 mins? pshh, yeah right
Well, maybe they'll do it a la "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare"
As to making enough money, I agree; however, technically Disney was making enough money....though this is not really me trying to bring up the Disneyfication of NYC. Just saying people are ALWAYS looking for a way to make more money!
Perhaps sad, but very true.
Not a HP fan at all, but sorta enjoyed the film and some books. Do we really want screaming "OMG!" kids in stage theatres... hmmm...maybe this would open the doors for them into broadway.
I vote for one 27-hour musical covering all the books.
...With no intermission.
Feel the pain.

"Lord of the Rings" existed as a musical already! It was in Berlin, Germany in 1999, not very successful though. The costumes were very nice but I think the audience got disappointed because they were actually playing "The Hobbit" and not "Lord of the Rings".
Just thought you might be interested as someone mentioned it earlier...
Hi BillyFan 2, nice to meet you here, haha!
I could see it as a children's musical done in schools and such, but a full scale theatrical event sounds daunting if not impossible.
I think Potter could work if they reset if in the WWI period. For some reason, British ficiton about magic works well durring that period (well as a musical at least) to me.
