I knew it was a joke - it just wasn't funny because it's lame. What are you talking about, MermanMartinVerdonChitaBarbraLiza...etc etc etc Bible? That makes not one bit of sense. Go back to praying, ms. repub.

How funny that Munkstrap asked if you were a 12 year old, when he himself is only 18.

Just because he's considered a "legal" adult, it doesn't mean that we have to listen to his mindless ramblings. Just do what I do. Ignore him. He's only a child.

I COMPLETLY DISAGREE WITH ALL OF YOU! Tevye is NOT a singing part, it's an ACTING part. Zero Mostel and Topol were not great singers - I don't know where you all got the impression that Tevye was written for a great singer. Harvey F. is a very very good actor. If you noticed in Hairspray, he was very funny, but he also created a PERSON, someone you could care about. That is a difficult feat, but he did it. Just as he was GREAT in Torch Song Trilogy - not really a comedic part when it comes down to it. I think he would be WONDERFUL in Fiddler adn would create a character closer to how it was originally done. Before you make such quick judgments, you should think through how he would ACUTALLY do the part, I guarantee it won't be campy. Off my podium.

"I COMPLETLY DISAGREE WITH ALL OF YOU! Tevye is NOT a singing part, it's an ACTING part."

It's a part for an actor who has a voice that can span more than half of an octave.

"I don't know where you all got the impression that Tevye was written for a great singer."

It's a part for an actor who has a voice that can span more than half of an octave.

"Harvey F. is a very very good actor."

I think that we will all agree with that . . . . but

It's a part for an actor who has a voice that can span more than half of an octave.

"If you noticed in Hairspray, he was very funny, but he also created a PERSON, someone you could care about. That is a difficult feat, but he did it. Just as he was GREAT in Torch Song Trilogy - not really a comedic part when it comes down to it."

Yes, again I think that everyone will agree with those points but . . .

It's a part for an actor who has a voice that can span more than half of an octave.

"I think he would be WONDERFUL in Fiddler adn would create a character closer to how it was originally done. Before you make such quick judgments, you should think through how he would ACUTALLY do the part, I guarantee it won't be campy."

Well, if he ends up playing the part we will all see but . . . .

It's a part for an actor who has a voice that can span more than half of an octave.

"Off my podium."

So am I.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that . . . .

It's a part for an actor who has a voice that can span more than half of an octave.

can't singing lessons help extend his range, even at this point in his career?

Harvey F has a range that spans more that half of an octave.

Let him speak it - who cares - the value of voice over acting on Broadway has become ridiculous.

Um . . . . there is a reason that those things are called MUSICALS! They usually require music and people who can sing that music.

I'd pay to see him do it. There's a reason most people "talk/sing" that role...it absolutely does not have to be played by someone who has a beautiful singing voice. Harvey is the kind of actor who would give it his all and be the most loving of parents to those little girls. I think he would bring a warmth and humor to the role that a lot of other actors (singing actors also) couldn't come close to!

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

My Fair Lady was not written for a non-singer, when Rex Harrison was cast, they changed the score.

Tonya Pinkins cracked all over Caroline, but still gave the best performance of the season - by far.

Did the Cabaret revival have brilliant singing? No. Was it brilliant? Yes.

Watch -- when they do the Evita revival - they will not use someone as amazing an actress as Patti LuPone, they'll find someone who can "hit the notes." And settle for that. The lists on this board were a bit ridiculous of who people would cast as Evita.

How could you not love Renee Zellweger in Chicago?

Elaine Stritch in Company.

Well, I'm sure that some people will go to see it just because Harvey Fierstein would be in it and some people won't for that same reason. I would have no desire to see it, from the standpoint of enjoying the musical "Fiddler On The Roof", but I would go out of curiosity to see what he would do with the role. I feel that by playing 'Tevye' he would be more of a distraction to the story for me and the audience would not be going to see "Fiddler" but Harvey. I have enjoyed almost everything that I've seen Harvey in and I recently enjoyed the current production of "Fiddler On The Roof" (sans Molina who was out sick). In my personal opinion the two don't fit but who knows, stranger things have happened.

I think Harvey will rely on laughs to get him through the show - otherwise, he's not a brilliant actor, he's almost as overrated as Idina Menzel. And, that would ruin the integrity of the show.
