i agree with u mistress spouzi. the first time his performance is funny but then it gets old.
24 times my god.
I thought twice was bad. It is a great show.
But Harvey (EDNA) IS MY FAV PART.
Actually my least favorite part is Mrs. Baltimore Crabs.
I loved Kerry in Hairspray. She had the best voice.
John Goodman needs to replace Harvey.
John Goodman. Are you kidding?
Barry Humphries- (broadways number one Dame)
Gary Beach- He would be divine but that would hurt the Producers.
Bette Midler- I can see it. Sorry. She would kick butt.
Nathan Lane- He would make a great EDNA!
Richard Skipper
Michael West- From Forbidden Broadway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(He plays Edna every night in FB and he is funny!
I love Michael West!

Well I have seen Hairspray 5 times and i still love Harvey in the role. As an actor he is wonderful at what he does and It well be very differnt seeing the show with out him.
I would really really love to see John Goodman take over the role when he leaves I think he would be awsome in it. different (very different) but awsome!
Barry Humphries?! Edna isn't British! I also think that if they cast Edna with a female, they'll have dug themselves a grave.

Are you serious? You suggest Gary Beach and say that it would hurt The Producers
The you say Nathan Lane without commenting?
And there's a difference between parodying Harvey in FB and making a role your own. Not to diminish Michael West's talents or lack of.

Sorry; but I question anyones opinion of a performance after seeing it 24 times. It just doesn't seem right. ( and just the thought of all that money...)

all that money...
well i paid for 20 of them, at $20 bucks each...
$400 bucks is not that much.
I didnt like Harvey from the start. His voice just annoys me. I think he does a great job coming off as a woman, and has amazing chemistry with dick latessa but his singing makes me cringe.

Nathan Lane is brilliant! Jack it will hurt the Producers if both are out but Nathan will not be in it forever not at 100,000 a week.
I think Gary Beach is the real star and no one gives him the credit he deserves. Nathan is faboo but what about GARY!
I love Gary Beach.

Oh and Mistress S
I understand how it feels to love a show. I feel the same way about Forbidden Broadway which I have seen 12 times.
So I understand.
I bet you know every word of the show by heart. I can recite FB BY HEART.
Michael West is talented. Did you see his one man show. It was brilliant.
Barry is an actor. Edna would not have a british accent.

Thanks Corine.
I'm the first to admit Ive got crazy obsessive tendencies. I see a show, if i hate it, i dont see it again. If I like it, Ill see it about 3 times. If I love it, Ill see it 10 or more times. I dont think theres anything wrong with knowing what I like.

Do you think it's a good idea to promote the idea that being a number one fan is based soley on the number of times someone has seen the show. (no offense to Spouzic intended)
Couldn't someone in Iowa who saw the show once and reads every article, records every appearance, has all the books and collectibles be just as much a fan?
Couldn't a person who has none of those things be a number one fan just based on their love for the show?
I don't think how many times you have seen a show (or anything) nor the $$ spent in relation to that show can determine who is a #1 fan, nor do I think one should promote that.
Danny DeVito as Edna.
That's kind of random Phantom2 lol.
Danny DeVito would be to short Tracy would be taller, inface the whole cast would be taller.

I think Phantom2 should be Edna. ![]()

Coming from you, Mrs. Morrison, I'll take that as a genuine compliment.

its a compliment. youre funny.
Any of the suggested actors on here would be great. But in the Hairspray program, Marc Shaiman states "No, I'm not Edna(yet)...", so I think Shaiman should take over, with Scott Wittman as Wilbur.
If not in May, it would be cool as a Hairspray anniversary stint.
My other choice would be John Goodman.
Oh my god! Shaiman would be hilarious as Edna!
