Did the show start previews tonight, or last night? I think I'm going to attempt to see it tomm. night. I'm kind of excited because I don't really know what the story is at all.

I posted in another thread that at the last minute, something came up and I wasn't able to attend after all. I rearranged my subscription ticket for next weekend.

I was there on Saturday night, and I LOVED it. The play itself is poignant and incredibly well-written. Jonathan Groff and Victoria Clark were OUTSTANDING, not to mention the entire cast. It's an hour 40 with no intermission, but it felt like so much less - I couldn't pull myself away.
The concept of Victoria Clark's character was different than anything I've seen before. For the vast majority of her stage time, she's alone and performing monologues. Her story seems entirely disconnected from the rest of the play. I wondered briefly what her purpose was, but ONLY briefly because her performance was so stunning and there were subtle parallels between her story and Billy's (Groff) family that you could tell a connection would be made eventually. I really have nothing at all to say about her performance except how incredible she was.
Jonathan Groff was amazing! I've only seen him in Spring Awakening, and he was fantastic! He showed a very definitive transition in his character from before he goes to Iraq to when he comes home. His post-war performance blew me away - Groff really treated this character with all the complexities and layers it deserved.
The rest of the cast was phenomenal as well, the standouts being Skipp Sudduth as Austin and Cassie Beck as Marianne.
I seriously suggest EVERYONE gets tickets for this production, it's worth it.

I might get tickets. I'm just not sure. I wish i had caught "Kindness." All I've heard in reference to Groff is he's a great singer but can't act to save his life. So we'll see.

Lordy me! I really need new reading glasses. I thought the title of this play was : "Prayer For My Enema".
Ah, the perils of old age!

Rentboy, that's what I had heard too, but I was VERY impressed with his performance. And he's super nice after the show too, which is a plus =)
Two Questions:
1. What's the running time for the play?
2. Where's the stage door?
I'm seeing it tomorrow and I'm so excited. I've been wanting to see it since this summer, where I heard Barlett Sher was director.
According to a previous post, the approx. running time is 1 hr, 40 minutes - 110 minutes, without an intermission. As far as stagedooring goes, Playwrights doesn't have one. The actors enter/exit via the lobby.
BTW, after you see it, be sure to post your thoughts HERE!
ENJOY!
Best,
- Mike
