I am amazed at the number of premium seats still available for this weekend for the Hamilton tour in St. Louis. As of this morning 117 for this Friday and 181 for this Saturday matinee in the center section in the 1st 10 rows. Most of these tickets were $625 yesterday and just went down to $425 and $350 this morning (and I will assume keep dropping until they sell (a few tickets for the 1st 4 rows were $199 for shows at the beginning of this week before they sold). But don't worry about Lin-Manuel Miranda--his 6 or 7% of net should still be more than $250,000 for the week just from the tour that's in St. Louis (gross for this week should easily top $5 million or possibly much more--a possible best week ever--a 4,000 seat theatre can gross a lot of money).

That's a pretty sweet wall, having to discount a seat to regular price.

I know the prices vary by quite a bit depending on the market. My city, Jacksonville, will get Hamilton in the 19/20 season. Most of those tickets will sell by subscription. There is no way, that Jacksonville audiences will pay $200 or more for a single ticket. And to get first dibs, they have to buy a subscription for the 2018/19 season. In reality, they are spending quite a bit to see Hamilton, but at least they are getting to see the other shows that season brings also.
Is the capacity for that theatre 4,000? Doesn’t seem too surprising to me.
I don't think you can generalize from Saint Louis to the nation (or the world).

The same thing happened with premium tickets in SF and LA. The released some a few days before the show and lowered the price until people bought them. I think the lowest they went was about $200. My friend saw the tour in Denver and got some great premium seats for $298 a couple days before the show. I am guessing it will be different in each city. Since a lot of these tour venues have 3,000 to 4,000 seats, I am sure they are still making plenty of money.
we know that house size affects demand, and we also know that demand is not uniform in different places (for a host of reasons, not the least of which is disparate socio-economic characteristics).
