Because I think it could work as a sung-through musical like "Les Miserables"
Cast:

Lord Fredrick Hoffman (The Father)-Terrance Mann

Ah, I love habitual armchair casting directors.
Well I am smart enough to know I've been insulted and pretty enough not to care.
ILOHTFAHA - .....niiiice response:)
I've not heard of the film, but it sounds interesting...i suppose it's a dark twist of Snow White? I'm all in for that!
This is the Sigourney Weaver film, right?
yes and yes.
I watched it really late one night on TV, thinking I would see a train wreck. I was surprised at how effective it was. It really got under my skin and creeped me out.
I recently decided to buy it on DVD, because I couldn't stop thinking about some of the imagery and the performances.
It's not brilliant, by any means, but it's much better than I thought it would be. For fans of grim (and I mean GRIM) fair tales, check it out. You probably won't be disappointed. I know I wasn't.
Sorry to double post but for those who have never heard of this film it is a very very VERY dark on twist on "Snow White" making it more accurate than any other version. The Wicked Queen character is basically human in this. She's actually a woman who truly loved her husband and who wanted to be a good mother but the Snow White character rejects her again and again and again, and the father doesn't take sides. And when the stepmother's son is stillborn she takes it out on stepdaughter. So that and the whole aging problem comes into play in this character descent into wickedness
Changing the subject slightly... has anyone read Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen? It was a bad Wicked copy, but it was interesting.
Here's a clip and picture from the movie. The old hag in this is UGLY!
Snow White: A Tale of Terror Poison Apple
I totally remember this movie. I think Sigourney Weaver was nominated for a Golden Globe or an Emmy for her wonderful performance. They really did a great job in making the "evil" queen a real character.
It's not perfect, as others have said. I remember there being a few plot holes and sometimes, the film moves too fast, not allowing us to really see where certain characters are coming from at times, but I still think it's right up there with The Company of Wolves as a wonderfully dark, spooky, and atmospheric re-telling of a classic fairy tale.
