Seeing it coming across Twitter the last few days, but all the actors have variations of the same msg (which tells me they're either paid to tweet or at least given the text), something about "Today Tix is a great new app, like TKTS without the lines." Anyone tried it? Thoughts?
A new Broadway app that's like going to tkts only fun? yes please! @TodayTixhttps://twitter.com/TodayTix">@TodayTix http://t.co/YLMP9Cj3MN

I've looked at it and I don't really understand its purpose. It's either full price tickets, or the prices you can find on Broadwaybox.com. It's not really like TKTS because if a show doesn't have a discount code but occasionally shows up on TKTS, you can only get full price tickets through the app. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get it.
I don't any fun.

Yeah, I looked at the website and it said "TodayTix Concierge agents hand-deliver the tickets to you outside of the theatre, ready to answer any questions you may have..." which also sounds weird (and a touch shady). Thanx BwayFan!
I used it for THE GLASS MENAGERIE...a show that unless you want to do partial view or standing room, you can only get a discount at TKTS. My ticket was $70 + $5 "concierge fee." My ticketstub says $82, which I found odd. Did Today Tix eat the cost of those $7 dollars? My seat was 2nd-to-last row in Center Mezz.
It was a great seat and I don't have any complaints. I'm curious if I could have gotten a Mezz seat at TKTS for much cheaper.
Their "concierge service" isn't unique. Papering membership services such as Play-by-Play and GoldClub normally have you meet an agent nearby the theater to pick-up your ticket. Having a to meet a "concierge" to get your ticket isn't the reason you use the app, but it's a nice bonus to not have to wait in the Will Call line. The reason you use the app is to avoid waiting in the bitter cold on the TKTS line amidst gaggles of rowdy sports fans on "Superbowl Blvd."

Thanx Capn. Since I don't live in the NYC area (train service to Southern CA sucks), I've never used subscription papering services, although I've certainly read about them here...learning new things :)
I'm really excited for it. Mobile ticketing purchases are on the rise, and buying Broadway tickets on a mobile phone sucks pretty much everywhere. It's the beginning of a necessary service.
I personally think it's a great app! When my mom came into the city, she wanted to see Mamma Mia, but it wasn't on TKTS. For a saturday night show, we got $75 8th row orchestra seats with this app! Super user friendly and I think the discounts are great. Much better to use then any online site, except for the fact you don't know what your seats exactly are until you pick up your tickets.

This app is nothing special. It is just using discounts you can find on broadwaybox, playbill, theatermania to get discounted tickets. I'm sure they are set up with their own discount codes which they use to get a kickback much like those previously mentioned sites do when their codes are used. As already stated, you cannot get discounts for shows that do not offer discount codes online. At TKTS shows like Matilda, Kinky Boots and Pippin show up, yet have no discount codes online.
Let's take The Glass Menagerie for example. That second to last row mezz seat can be purchased on telecharge or at the box office for $82, hence the price on the ticket. Broadwaybox has a discount code to get it for $59. So TodayTix must have their own discount code, either for $70 as they charged you, or maybe $59 as well, so then actually it wasn't a $5 fee they charged but a $16 fee. Though why the ticket had the original price of $82 I don't know. Maybe they have an arrangement with the theaters to keep the original price on there just so it appears to the customers they received a better deal. You're better off just going to the box office with a discount code or even buying on telecharge/ticketmaster with the code since their fees may be cheaper. I guess this service is for people who don't know where to find discount codes.
I don't have iOS to examine this further. And besides it being lame that they don't have this on Android yet, why can't you just purchase tickets on their site?
My concern is you don't know your seats until you get your tickets. And if you are picky about seats (I am) that doesn't work for me.
So basically they charge you $5 a ticket to print out a discount code and buy a seat for you at the theatre?
I will say when I was in the city over the holidays and decided to see a last minute show (after rush tix were sold out) and didn't want to go to TKTS, it was really helpful.
I didn't see a BroadwayBox discount for the show that applied to a Sat Mat. Perhaps I read it wrong...?

Well the one that is on broadwaybox right now doesn't indicate any days of the week are excluded. And the one on playbill for the same $59 lists Friday-Sunday matinees and evenings. Possibly when you saw the show the codes were different and TodayTix had one for $70.

I used it a week or so ago, and it actually worked out pretty well. They do a pretty good job of selling tickets for somewhat of a discount. They're not crazy cheap, but nobody really is, and they don't try to confuse you by only offering expensive tickets up front. They just show you what they have, and their fees are lower than most. Plus, if you use this code, you get $20 off your first order. (So do I, win win!)

Every once in a while you might luck out. They did a lottery with On the Town, and I got 2 $140 orchestra seats for $10 a piece.

I've used TodayTix a couple times, and it's legit. Here's a review of the app I wrote that includes a little about how TT obtains their discounted tickets. Good luck/have fun!

I LOVE this app. I used it for all three shows I saw last weekend.

Yeah, it makes everything so easy and simple
This has several advantages over the TKTS booth ...... shows offered as much as 7 days in advance, and often a choice locations and prices.
Through this weekend, you can still get $20 off a purchase as a new customer by using this code:
VZYST
I have always depended on the kindness of strangers ..... thank you in advance!
Thanks for the discount code! Taking my parents to their first show next week (and really only musically my mom enjoys!)
Use code BZFPG to save on Kelli O'Hara in THE KING & I This week! I'm going Saturday thanks to this app.
