I know Page Six isn't always a reliable source, but figured this was worth a mention. Would he be Bloom or Bialystock?

According to the LV Review Journal, it seems that "Franz" is the part he is expected to play:

"More news from the local podcasting community: The Web site www.fivehundybymidnight.com reported on Sunday that David Hasselhoff is expected to play Franz, the former crazy Nazi, when "The Producers" opens at The Venetian next year. This will be big news in Germany, where the 'Hoff is idolized."

Has anyone checked the official Paris site for this show?
First off, only one show is listed every night at 8 PM. Wasn't this supposed to be a 90 minute version? I see no reason to cut it down if it's not going to run 2 times a night.
Also...top ticket price for this show is a disgusting $143. Do they seriously expect people to pay that much when it's toured all over the country and it's not even holding up well attendance wise on Broadway. And not sure what the deal is but for kicks, I did a quick search for several night in February and March just to see what availability was. No matter what date I chose, the closest row I could get is row KK, that's 11 rows back!!! Must be holding onto a lot of seats for VIP or comps.

Vegas and Hasselhoff seems like a natural fit. I wonder if he is hoping to get a role in Mamma Mia?
Hasselhof has one distant connection with the ABBA guys. He had a hit with "Hooked on a feeling" in the 80's/90's. His version is for some reason one of the most viewed videos on the unmentionable site. This version of the song was a big international hit for swedish singer Björn Skifs in the 70's, although it was a cover of a 60's song. Björn Skifs sang the part of the arbiter on the concept album for Chess. Ok quite distant.

It's a rule, Vegas shows have to be 90 minutes or less (they don't want people away from the casino floor for any longer). It's along the lines of the buffets, they want people in and out as quickly as possible so they can be happy and then they can go back to gambling and losing money.
When The Phantom of The Opera went to the Venetian, it had to be cut and the production company only took it down to 95 minutes, they couldn't cut anything else without it taking from the show. Anyway, it caused them a lot of problems but in the end they got to keep it at 95 minutes, don't know what they did for those extra 5 minutes though.

I heard from one source "The Producers" is only going to be 70 mins. not 90 min. They are starting off wtih 7 shows. That way they do not have to double cast the show. If they do two shows a night they have to double cast the show. Since David H. is considered the star of the show he will be expected to do every show. From the way the press release was worded, David H. is premiering the show in Las Vegas. Then they will probably go with two shows and not have a big name star as the lead.
As for Phantom, they got approval from equity to go 95 mins. The main reason it needed the extra 5 mins, I believe is due to the chandelier which takes a while to assemble. I have not timed it, but I would guess maybe 3 mins. or more.
I think they asked David H. to star in the show, because he is very popular in Europe, specially Germany. This is a tourist town and that is why the shows are in the hotels. Our Performing Arts Center is not supposed to be completed until 2012.
I think they may be using "The Producers" like a headliner show. So that is why 70 min. Only time will tell if it is 70 or 90 mins. Just my thoughts. :)

Thanks Carolyn, forget they have to get special permission to do 2 shows a night so that definitely makes sense that they would only run one show a night at first even if it is a shotened version.
Revolutionary, don't forget Avenue Q opened with it's full version, so it's no hard and fast rule. It's not likely we'll see a full version show in Vegas, but we can always hope.

I realize the choice of David Hasselhoff might seem odd at first, but I think it's a perfect fit for Las Vegas.
If they had cast Hasselhof as Edna, "Hairspray" might still be running at the Luxor. I also think DH would have been fabulous portraying the monkey music box in the Venetian's Phantom.

The prices would be out of line for the full version. For that money & 70 minutes, it is going to tank badly
Broadway & Vegas would be a perfect marriage if done right & this ain't it
