"For that money & 70 minutes, it is going to tank badly"
Remember, those are just the "list" prices. A great many of those seats will be given away to gamblers as incentives for playing, and many of the others will be discounted. There are several half price ticket locations in Las Vegas that sell seats for the same day. Perhaps someone with more expertise on the Las Vegas market can correct me if I'm mistaken, but my understanding is that the casino just wants this sort of show to draw in a lot of people so they'll have more bodies on the floor gambling afterwards. Breaking even isn't really the issue.

this show will tank just like hairspray and avenue q...phantom can make it because it fits the spectacle of other shows as well as having rep for being this classic blockbuster.. mamma mia has survived for the reason that its songs are hits..catchy tunes that everyone knows to some capacity.

i hate phantom. i'm sorry, but i just do.
however, the producers is my favorite show... ever. and the fact that they've cast this dingbat, star trek, no-talent, sad excuse for an actor in a show that deserves (i say this somewhat tongue-in-cheek) more dignity than most, makes me sick.
did i mention that i've always hated david hastlehorse?

Wait... he's the star of the show...
...in a supporting role???
Those cultured, patient Vegas audiences are going to be a tad disappointed when he doesn't show up on stage for the first 45 minutes.

They will probably be disappointed when he does
Wanting to see him in it is akin to going to an auto race to see cars crash

Yes, there will definitely be comped tickets but those aren't that easy to get (least not easily accesible to the general public). And I doubt the aim of any company is to have it's tickets showing up at the half price ticket stands so the pricing is just ridiculous. I hate to start with the closing notices already but seriously, does anyone expect this to succeed with those prices? I just don't get it.
And to keep the first 10 rows away from the public (for now at least), just seems to be almost guaranteeing this will follow the other recent Broadway shows in Vegas.

Yer darned tootin' those tickets aren't easy to get. You probably have to gamble at least 10 thousand dollars a day several days a year to be eligible to get comped for those first 10 rows. The Paris casino couldn't care less if the general public gets those seats or not.

Until I heard about Hasselhoff I figured there was no way The Producers would work in Vegas. My point earlier was that the economics of doing a show at a Las Vegas casino are a lot different from doing a show at a Broadway or regional house. If a show brings in two thousand extra gamblers a night that's worth a small fortune. I've heard that Caesars makes over half a millon each night from the people who go to see Celine Dione. If you go to see any show in Vegas you'll have to walk past row after row of slot machines. I've been told that the reason there aren't yet any permanent productions of Disney shows in Las Vegas is that Disney didn't want their audiences to have to walk through gambling floors to get to the shows and the casino owners wouldn't have it any other way.
