I'm of the information that we'll see stunt casting one day in Phantom...but not as of now. But I'm also told the "powers to be" wouldn't be unhappy if it closed in early 2004,and that's a fact jack.
How about Nathan Lane as the Phantom & Rosie O Donnell as Christine or the Opera House - either role

Why does eveyrone hate Rosie so much? So what that she is heavy. Some of us not so thin people take offence to that Mr. "I MUST BE PERFECTLY PETIT" Roxy.

the heaselhoff rippingopen the shirt to expose chest hair scene was pretty hilarious!
although his confrontation wasn't that bad, it was his awkward walking and singing in this is the moment, that damn sideways walk in rhythm to the music!!
If people can rip into Hassellhoff & Melanie Griffith without mercy, why does Rosie get a pass ? Some people have thin skins. It was a joke. Henceforth, I will never mention Rosie again , for good or bad. Rosie will be persona non grata as far as I am concerned.
My question is does anybody ever audition anymore? I think he truly is challenging himself. I'll give him a chance maybe he will surprise us all.
when he was in J&H he needed O2 next to the wing, Well the Phantom to me is a much bigger role. He is truly fit for the part.
I would rather see Robert Goulet do the part of the Phantom instead.
I preferred Coleen as a brunette. I used to have fantasies about her in that Lucy wig. LOL

Mr. Roxy.... I think most of us are ripping on Melanie's or David's talent, not the size of their bodies.
"Hassellhoff demands to play The Phantom"
since when did anyone sane in the entertainment industry give a **** about what Hassellhoff demends? sorry, i doubt it'll happen
"when he was in J&H he needed O2 next to the wing, Well the Phantom to me is a much bigger role. He is truly fit for the part."
Not to be a smarty pants, but I've interviewed 5 actors who have played Phantom and or J/H and all have shared their take on this. They all agreed that " Phantom requires a more sustained, controlled disipline and is vocally more demanding, but J/H is physically one of in not "the" the most challanging roles to do long term" It literally had all of the actors in gyms or chiropractors regularily. One broke his hand during a scene.
"I would rather see Robert Goulet do the part of the Phantom instead. " LOL! So would his manager/wife Vera, who feels he's ageless. Imagine a 69 yr. old Phantom!
^ After seeing Goulet's Emile deBeque, I think I'll pass.
Ugh...I don't know...Hassellhoff..geez...um...
I'm sure he can give a beautiful rendition of 'I Gave You My Music'. That definitely seems to fit his range the best. hehe.
Shawk~ I covered him as Emmile in Philly last year! ouch! Goulet WAS "the' romantic leading man/heart throb for years. But at 68, it was a "visual stretch of the imagination". He and his wife, Vera e-mailed very unhappy with me. I saved this treasure as "Venemous Vera".

A Vegas Phantom has been discussed for some time. ALW's building a theater for that very subject, it remains to be seen if it will indeed open with that production, but a Goulet Opera Ghost would be a tightrope moment event! Several years ago when Robert Guillaume took over he had very set views on how he wanted to play the role, he became more flexible when it was pointed out to him that if he stood where he wanted to he would be dragged 25 feet into the air by a candle! Paul Stanley while weak in the role did give it all he had and was a delight regarding his respect for the company of actors.
OT-y: Goulet: I thought vocally he was surprisingly good although his French accent was a bit dodgy, but he was too old and stiff-acting to be convincing, as far as I was concerned. Emile is not supposed to be quite that much older than his Nellie.
