Only opera I ever saw seriously booed was a production of GIOVANNI in which the title character made his entrance from inside a dead horse.
There's also an infamous production of Strauss' THE BAT which the director staged as taking part in the 1930s, with the Act Tree jail a concentration camp. The audience was so vicious in its response that he had to be escorted out a side door for his own safety. Ironically, it's now available on DVD,

When I saw "Legends!" people booed at Joan Collins' line about her African-American maid picking cotton.
I wanted to boo at the end, but I was in the front row and I didn't want Collins to slug me as the stage door LOL.
Worst. Show. Ever.

When I saw Miss Saigon at the Ahmanson a looong time ago, the audience booed the woman playing "Ellen", because she stole away Chris from Kim.
Sad for the actress though. She was fabulous...don't recall her name.

I always felt bad for Ellen...and the actresses playing her. 
It's not like she was on a revenge quest against Vietnamese bar girls!

Also she had a line that went something like, "I've been bad, very bad." Someone shouted from the mez, "you are bad!"

Posted: 4/11/07 at 3:34pmI saw Hairspray about a week after Hailey Duff joined the cast and there quite a few boos from the section I was sitting in during curtain call when she came out.
Videos
