True, but by using the songs from the movie, the creative team should probably expect some comparisons. It's not like Sister Act where it was a whole new score.

Oh...I'm sure they are. But I'm expecting Headley, the commanding, serious actress with powerful pipes, to put to rest any of those concerns.

No one is Whitney Houston. Christ, Whitney Houston was only Whitney Houston for about a decade. So f*ck it. Tailor the score to the performer who best embodies the role. I argue that there is no better choice than Headley.

Headley seems very talented. My problem is that I thought the original movie was dreck, so a musical of it doesn't appeal to me at all.
