I'm planning on going with my friend to try for standing room on first preview night. Does anyone has any idea when it would be a good time to get there and the likelihood of standing room being available?
Many shows do not sell standing room during previews, so you may want to check with the box office this week before getting up early on Saturday.

Some box offices are very strict on the show being sold out, too, so if there is one $350 seat left, it isn't a sold out show. Whereas other shows, I've seen them release SRO in that instance. Not sure about that theater...

Box office doesn't think they're doing standing room for previews. Tech will be back there.
Like Carmen said,. I work there, and I can't remember EVER seeing standing room during previews. Tech and the producers hang out in the back of the orch
I'm glad I saw this. I was planning on trying to get Standing Room tickets for April 16th! I never realized they do not sell Standing Room tickets during previews, makes sense though. I guess I'll just have to hope I get lucky with the Lottery that day!

We did Hedwig standing room tonight and here's how it went down!
I arrived around 4:30pm and was first in line. My friend arrived around 5 and she was 4th. We heard mixed reports from the box office (there could be up to 10 tickets, there might not be any tickets) but everybody said they wouldn't know for sure until 7:15 so we all decided to wait it out. We did the lotto at 6pm and there were about 200 people there for 20 tickets so none of us got called.
Around 6:30, a box office rep came out and said there would likely only be 4 SRO tickets, but that after opening they should consistently have the full 20. True to his word, at 7:15 they let the first two of us purchase 2 SRO tickets each and the view was GREAT!
It sounds like it will get a bit easier after opening--I wonder if they'll switch to a morning SRO rush once they have a consistent supply. We'll see!
Book of Mormon has kept its post-lotterry standing room sales, so that may not change after Hedwig opens. I think they want to keep the time between SRO sales and show time tight, so that they go to fans and not scalpers.
