Helena Bonham as Nancy...

Ok...
so I was singing "As Long as.." just a bit ago, and was wondering - with some proper vocal work, of course... serious vocal strength work - how she would fare as this character... she has the grittiness that I think most actresses lack when portraying her while still being able to deliver the "hooker with a heart of gold" kind of thing... and to see her play a firey character like this would be a thrill... her accent is bloody perfect, and her eyes just have enough deep sadness in them to bring across to an audience this girl's story.
Not that there's a movie re-make coming out soon, nor am I actually very thrilled about the prospect of somebody trying to come close to Shani Wallis' stunning performance, but it would just be interesting to see how she'd do it.
Since it's being re-vived in London think interest in this show will be re-peaked? Or will it be a short lived, Webber-enduced collective projectile vomit session and only hurt the show's reputation?
discuss.

She is such a GREAT actress. And I bet her voice has more strength than we've heard, considering Tim Burton made her tone done any musical theater antics for her Lovett. She did get 3 months of vocal training.
I would like to see her take on another musical role
*Waits for Roquat to start bashing her*

Okay, I absolutely adored Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs.Lovett, I think she gave an Oscar-worthy performance.
Having said that, I don't see her belting out "As Long As She Need Me." She would be fine in a non-musical adaptation of the novel OLIVER TWIST, but I can't really see her in the musical.
The character I think she would be perfect for is Fosca. I crave at the thought of her sinking her teeth in the role. I wouldn't mind seeing her in FOLLIES either.
