Allegiance ran an Adele-inspired ad meant to look like an SNL Digital Short during tonight's SNL, complete with a studio audience applauding at the end. Gotta give the team credit, they are doing everything they can to get the word out.... oh my!

That was a little weird, but bravo to the team for the idea of disguising an ad to look like something that specific.

Oh, Uncle George... :P Good for them for trying to market using a current topic of interest (besides the political stuff). Thanks for posting that.

I think we have different opinions of what "brilliant" means, Mr. Nowack.

Now you know art is all relative! Not that an ad can be considered art...
But I thought it was silly and amusing and to masquerade it as a digital short was something I haven't seen before.

Oh, because SNL was mentioned I thought OP meant they ran the ad during SNL (because she's on the show tonight)...whoops! Need to check my reading comprehension lol

They did run this ad during tonight's SNL, just without the title cards at each end of the YouTube version. On SNL, it froze on the TAKEI 78 image at the end.
That doesn't mean they didn't limit the ad to only run in certain regions, like those closer to NYC...

I thought it was amusing and perfectly fit Takei's online persona/presence, which the marketing had also been guiding. Not my most favorite, but if you don't believe advertising can be art, there are actually advertising awards for that purpose.

The ad is a cry of desperation. The hacks who produced, wrote and directed the show are talking George Takei for a ride. The show won't make it through the winter.

Interesting that BWW ran with this story, but of course, missed the point that the promo ran as an ad during SNL when Adele was the musical guest. Makes a bit less sense without that context.

So when shows don't do anything new to try and attract attention, they get criticized for it (e.g. Side Show not running ads during AHS: Freak Show), but if a show does try something new, they are just desperate for attention? Sounds like everyone's screwed no matter what they do or don't do on here, heh.

I'm all for trying something new to sell a show, but IMHO, it's a terrible ad.
