I'm going on a fam vacation and would love to see a show. I'm not finding much. I'll be there the first week. Any thoughts?

Bobby, theatermania.com has a decent (if not all-inclusive) listing of shows for major cities. I'm not sure they would have anything for August yet, but you can check when the time gets closer.
I mean, not sure what exactly you're interested in (I'm guessing high-profile stuff like nat'l tours, pre-Broadway try-outs, etc), but when I was dating my now-ex, he lived in NoHo and I remembered walking around the area I'd see at least three or four small theatres with different plays running within a couple of blocks. Nothing high profile, of course, but sometimes when you're out vacationing it's nice to check out some of these small theatres.

The out of town (pre-Broadway) tryout of the new musical 9 to 5 (as in Dolly Parton) is being produced this summer at the Ahmanson Theatre.

9 to 5 doesn't open until September 3rd, actually. :) I really want to go to it's opening night!
