Help! Do you know this musical??

Here's what we know:

Mid to Late 80s/Early 90s
Pre-Broadway workshop production, never made it to Broadway
French maid is one of the characters
Based on a "bad movie"
One of the actresses was a young Donna Devlin or someone with a similar name.

Any ideas what it might be?? Musical theater dorks UNITE!

I would say Clue as well, but I do have issue with you saying it was based on a "Bad Movie".

The movie was and still is a wonderful 90 minutes

The French Maid reference immediately made me think Clue.

Clue was later in the 90's, wasn't a Pre-Broadway workshop but an actual Off-Broadway production, Mrs. White is NOT a French maid in the show but rather a man in drag as a frumpy maid, it is NOT a bad movie, and although Denny Dylan (the closest name I could think of to be almost like the name given) played the detective she was not young. I really don't think it could be Clue. It literally fits NONE of the criteria.

I think that we have already ruled out CLUE...it was too successful. We are attempting to piece together vague information given to us by a friend about a musical that she was in but refuses to give the name of.

Any other ideas that you may have would be awesome!

"No Way To Treat A Lady" fits a lot of the clues. Late 80's, was produced (and reviewed by the Times) but never made it to Broadway, was a pretty bad movie and had a French Maid in it.
