Help: Tenor Show-Stopping Solos

Depends on how high you want to go and your own personal tastes. However, all of these are pretty good (in my opinion)...
Streets of Dublin - A Man of No Importance
Love Changes Everything - Aspects of Love
What Is It About Her? - The Wild Party (Lippa)
Valjean's Soliloquy (What Have I Done?) - Les Miserables
And if you have the range and feel like going super high, there's always things like Gethsemane from Superstar or Pity The Child from Chess.
You may also want to check out The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology songbooks for Tenor. There's 4 volumes and they also sell practice CDs for each volume.
Hope that helps.

I forgot to ask what this was for. Some songs are fine for concerts but not so good for auditions.
Valjean is not a tenor? Valjean sings high A's & B-flats (Bring Him Home, Soliloquy) and a High-B (Who Am I?). That's absolutely a tenor role. You're nuts if you're going to call it baritone or anything else.
Bring Him Home is a good example of what I asked above. It'd be good concert material, but I wouldn't use it for an audition.

BEING ALIVE is definitely show stopping. But I consider it a baritone song.

Really? I thought Dean Jones was a tenor.
I meant that regardless of its official classification, unless he's a Michael Jackson-eqsue tenor, he could probably pull it off because it's not that low drastically if tenors have sung it in the past.

He may be a tenor, but the song is a Baritone song.

Out There from Hunchback is not a bad choice, and people like the song.
Oh What a Circus from Evita...that middle part: Sing ya fools but ya got it wrong....
Papa can you hear me from Yentl (If you find a nice arrangement)
Pity the Child
Valjean's Sol. taken out of context does not have the impact as one would expect.
Try to be original, Bring Him Home is overdone.
What is that Craig Carneila song..the batter? Diamonds? The one he sings about baseball as a kid. That is nice
And this is my beloved is ok. You do not have to limit yourself to "guy songs". Change a pronoun and the possiblities are endless :)

I doubt this is a tenor song....but "Moving Too Fast" from The Last Five Years is amazing. Maybe "What Do I Need With Love?" from Thoroughly Modern Millie would work???

I think it's "What You'd Call a Dream." Very pretty, but it doesn't strike me as show-stopping.
"Pity the Child" and that section of "Oh What a Circus" are great ideas if you can pull them off. Ooh, and "Anthem" is wonderful, and definitely a showstopper.
"Not While I'm Around" from Sweeney Todd, maybe?

Love Changes Everything
Anthem
Gethsemane
I thought a high baritone and a tenor could interchange some songs????? Just a question

I think that's true, sharon... doesn't vocal clasification have more to do with vocal quality than the actual range of notes? There are some singers who can sing in the tenor range but still have a baritone quality to their voices.

Thought of two more from Spider Woman....
A male version of Kiss of the Spider Woman....Stay on the A natural at the end.
Or, The Day after that......not really tenor tenor...but a cool song...

Is "Anthem" really a tenor song? The part of Anatoly is usually played by a baritone, although I suppose there are some higher notes in the song.
I don't know if I'd call "Moving Too Fast" a show-stopping number. Good song, but if you really want to wow someone with a show-stopping tenor song that shows off your range, try "Gethsemane" or "Pity The Child." I don't think "Bring Him Home" even has the same show-stopping element as those songs do. Of course, if you don't have the range, don't try it.

The Soliloquy from "Carousel." That can really stop the show. And John Raitt's tenor is one of the best ever to grace a Broadway stage.
"Jaws is the Citizen Kane of movies."

Valjean may have those high notes but its not necessary to cast a tenor in the role. That may have been the case on Broadway but most of the London cast are more along the lines of high baritones. Those money notes only crop up a few times in the show.
