In January, I’m bringing friends to NYC for the first time. In discussing what they wanted to do, one of the things she brought up was she’d LOVE to tour a costume company…a legit costuming company. I immediately thought of the TDF Costume Collection, and clicked over to their website but didn’t see anything about tours.

Question: does anyone know of a costume house that could fulfill this request? This is a very good friend of mine, a helluva actress/costumer who survived cancer, and is really due for something special like this.

You just had to throw the survived cancer thing in there to make sure you got a response. You are so Lifetime!

Doesn't the Met have a spectacular costume collection?

Don't take me on, I'll cut you. :)

Hadn't thought about the Met. Good idea.

While not specifically theater costumes, your friends might be interested in the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art www.metmuseum.org. Also the Museum of the City of New York has a collection, but I'm not sure if it is open to the public www.mcny.org
