According to the article in the NYTImes, it does have to vacate, but the producers haven't decided what to do yet. They would consider a move, but there are no theatres presently open... hopefully it will find a home as it is literally on the verge of recooping it's investment!
I guess time will tell - - they do have some more time in the space, the times article gave no date that they had to leave by.
But some good news is that in the renovations/building of the new complex at that site, a new and restored theatre will be included! Unfortunately, it won't be open until 2008!!!

Without naming titles, there are several theatres that could be available by February 15.
They may not have that derelict lived-in feel of the Henry Miller, but they're theatres.

Posted: 10/29/03 at 1:56pmHasn't URINETOWN just recouped? It would take a good bit of money to move the show. That would put it back in the red. It's two years old now. It would be a really big risk to keep it open and move after the theater closes. The producers said that there isn't another suitable Broadway house and they have thought about an off Broadway move, but there would union and contract issues involved that might prohibit it.

Posted: 10/29/03 at 3:57pmI have a friend in Urinetown whom I just talked to. They said the show WILL BE CLOSING. It would cost millions to move it and they can't afford it.
