I have searched the web and this board for any information regarding this rumor. Does anyone have any inside information regarding, Here Lies Love's, future post the end of July? It is my hope that somehow the rumors are true and details will be forthcoming. This production shouldn't close!

I think the only space this could really work in would be the Circle in the Square and that's taken by Soul Doctor. So, depending on its success, we shall see?

I think it could work in a normal Broadway space. I mean, aren't the stages typically built higher? So what if they just didn't put in a stage floor and instead extended the House into the proscenium to flatten it all out?

I don't think its bound for Broadway. I was thinking more like the Daryl Roth Theater, or perhaps some little known large warehouse space which will accommodate the immersive nature, but allow the production to expand slightly to allow for a larger audience and a potential profit.

what about BAM the Harvey

IF memory serves, it is very close to the lay out of the original 54. (the 70's and 80's were a lot of fun) LOL. Updated On: 6/30/13 at 01:15 AM

An interesting idea, although I was thinking they'd want to keep the existing designs, perhaps just expand everything for a larger space and capacity. Here Lies Love, at The Public plays to a very small audience and I suspect would not be profitable at its current dimensions. At the same time, you don't want to lose the intimate nature of the piece. I think for this to work at The Harvey, it would need a complete redesign. Of course, making the environment more Studio 54 like would only enhance the design metaphor they're going for, so who knows. Also wondering if a show outside of Manhattan can sustain an open ended run.

I was mostly wondering if anyone connected with the production, knew about anything that was more than a rumor. If there has been any progress in landing or even negotiating with a venue.

There was a rumor that the producers were looking heavily into Circle in the Square, but with Soul Doctor going in there, it put a kink in those immediate plans (but I guess not a long term plan...)

But I thought I did read an article recently where they were talking about shows that have immersive venues (focusing on "Natasha and the Comet..." and "Murder Ballad"), where the producers of "Here Lies Love" were looking into other spaces, so it is still in the realm of possibilities.

Unless they were planning on completely re-staging the show, or gutting the theater, Circle in the Square really doesn't make sense. I thought those rumors were started here. I think they'd be better suited to the Daryl Roth Theater or Irving Plaza.

Fuerza Bruta seems to be staying, so the Daryl Roth Theater is booked. Don't know what is happening at Irving Plaza, but memory of that space is that it would be near ideal for Here Lies Love.

I'm also thinking that there are some similar spaces - although my mind can't quite think of one - around the city that would fit the bill: larger than LuEsther Hall, but basically a black box. I can remember attending some wedding or something, somewhere that was very similar in shape to what their existing configuration would need.

I guess I will just have to wait for any announcement coming from The Public. I also would love to hear about the release of the cast recording.

I was totally enthralled with Here Lies Love. I hope it has a life beyond July.

If it transfers, it certainly won't be to Broadway. It is perfect in the venue it's in. The notion that, if a show is successful, it should move to Broadway is ridiculous. Not every show is meant for Broadway. If they need a larger audience to make their nut, then they'll find a larger but similar space.

I can't wait to see this show again. I would think the Union Square Theater could work - I was intrigued that Murder Ballad fit well into it.
