Here's How HAIRSPRAY is Holding Up

I like how some of you think Donna is amazing, when she doesn't do anything remotely amazing in the chorus. I think she's great as the female authority figure, but hardly noticeable in her regular role.

Caissie is easily the worst Penney I've seen. She has no comic timing, poor acting skills, and her singing is average. If people are finding her great it's no wonder Broadway is turning into American Idol. They seem positively brilliant in comparison.

C is for C: fyi, I think you mean "ultimate". "Penultimate" simply means second to last, chronologically. Not being snarky, just wouldn't want you to say it in conversation and look like you didn't know what it meant.

And...I can't believe nobody mentioned Lisa Jolley -- finally someone who puts the dangerous comedy back into the Prudy role! She has hits and misses coming through the audience, but at least it's not the same line every single night!

I love Shannon -- she's the best Tracy, hands DOWN.

Fosse76 - We'll agree to disagree. I think that Donna is a fantastic Shelley. I absolutely adore her Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now solo and I just seem to always be watching her out of all the Nicest Kids (I also happen to love her right before the dodgeball scene. The "Okay? Okay!" and her thumbs up is just great to me. I know you're probably already hating my responce, so I'll stop.)

I wish I had scene her as Tracy during Father's Day.

If Casey is the same Penny I saw on tour - which I think she is - then I thought she great. She was cracking me up and she had the voice to fit the part. It wasn't whiny, it was a strong belt. I liked it.

Rentboy it's the same Caissie that was on tour. She's a wonderful Penny.

bunger, I totally agree about Lisa Jolley. She is hysterical! She changes up her roles everytime I see the show. Such a breath of fresh air!

I'm glad to hear that Shannon is doing well!! I've actually been talking to her mom quite a bit lately because her mom works at the front desk of my dance studio (where Shannon took before she landed the part). I'm really happy to hear happy feedback about her.

somebody hold me too close...
