Didn't know if it's worth a new thread, but to those who might be interested, here's a link to an insightful interview with Chase from today's Star-Ledger:

So I went tonight. *loves everythingisrent*
I don't know if this makes sense, but I feel like I would have enjoyed the show a lot more had I not already seen Wedding Singer. When I saw that, I remember thinking it's not a good show but it's fun!, and I was clapping and dancing during intermission...well maybe it was a little funnier...but anyway for the most part this reminded me a lot of Wedding Singer. But I've seen similar shows before, I don't know why it seemed to have a bigger effect here. I mean, I thought it was okay. It was entertaining, but I'm not even sure I'd call it fun.
The performers are, of course, wonderful. Will has to carry the show on his shoulders and he does it beautifully--engaging the audience, and just...keeps you pretty sympathetic. (Didn't know he recently learned the monologue--it was great!) Rachel Stern had a great voice, Christian really cracked me up...I mean all of the performers were great.
I did enjoy the music, but I would have enjoyed it more if it were taken down a notch. The speakers/orchestra/singers (perhaps in response to the orchestra?) was just soo loud that it gave me a headache. I did really enjoy the rewind scene, the scenes with the guys in the store, the randomocity of them breaking into dance, and a couple of other choice moments.
It's weird--these days, I don't tend to think a show was okay or decent, which is what I thought of this one. People say it a lot and I never understood it, but I guess I kind of do--I really wanted to enjoy it more. Again, I can't explain why the fact that it reminded me so much of Wedding Singer made it less enjoyable...or maybe it does make sense.
I feel like in different circumstances I would say the show is not good, but it's fun. Now I can just say it's entertaining.

So it wasn't good or fun in your book, but it was entertaining? Usually, I'd imagine something that's "entertaining" probably fulfills the requirements to be at least one of those. And since you had fun at Wedding Singer, you therefore cannot have fun at High Fidelity, which you feel is similar? I have to agree with you that that doesn't make sense.
As I've acknowledged in various posts, I completely understand why some people aren't exactly thrilled with this show, and I'm not looking to argue on behalf of the show, but your post seems like a bundle of contradictions.
