Saw the second preview tonight, and was suprised by the product placement. Jay Klaitz comes makes his first appearance holding a Dunkin' Donuts dozen box. Then later in the show, there's Dos Equis signage and I believe Michaelob as well. In the same scene, there's a 7-11 Big Gulp. And I'm sure the cellphone used were a particular brand, though I couldn't tell from my seats.
I'm sure it's done to make the setting more "realistic." But just wondering what kind of money is exchanged for their use, and just how appropriate it is, especially when it can be distracting onstage.
I think it ties in with the show... with all the cliche pop culture references. At least I thought so?
Not sure how popular Dunkin is in NYC, but it could be a reference to its Boston try-out. Massachusetts LOVES Dunkin Donuts. There are literally three in every town you could go to.
Dunkin Donuts is pretty popular, you can find one pretty easily anywhere in the city. But Starbucks is more popular.
